Just a nobody trying to fit in somewhere. Here to listen & learn.
Twice perma suspended on Twitter. I have now lost track of so many friends.

Including my longest internet friend. I am depressed and defeated.

I've felt so overwhelmed from everything happening around me & losing more mobility, I really forgot about joy. I've been too sad, angry, depressed.

I don't know what I enjoy anymore.

I'm pretty sure I used to enjoy things.

A disabled person wears a mask to the hospital - they’re accused of having covid anxiety.

By the same HCWs who then dismiss them and say things like “what do you want US to do? You’re sick”.

When there’s no care or treatment available - you safeguard whatever is left of your health at all costs.

Bird flu is already a problem.

But I dont actually think that's what this post is acknowledging.

I am raising funds to create survival stipends for Native activists and organizers who are struggling to make ends meet. Indigenous organizers often neglect their own needs for the sake of their communities. You can support them by donating here.

This denial runs so deep - people will decide they simply “don’t do sick” and shun you if you can’t hide your disabilities.

I’ve had it happen with friends & family. If my sickness remained invisible - I was tolerated. If I could no longer hide? I was abandoned:

Finally - wear a mask. Show us that you want to prevent catching (and spreading) covid. That you understand your good health is a gift and it’s not worth risking. That you care about your community.

Fight with us - not against us. /end

I share this to plead with ppl to stop assuming you know better than a disabled person who’s lived with their condition for years (or their entire life).

Who’s spent all their energy looking for solutions & trying to find help. Who’s had to grieve the lack of help available /22

This is never - and will never - be acceptable. The human body is an incredible thing & it can compensate to endure tremendous amounts of suffering. With chronic illness this often happens slowly over time. Your body gets used to the pain & disease process and learns to adapt /18

You have no idea how much these comments hurt. How deeply your words cut. It leaves a mark every time & we begin to pull away.

Many of us are leading incredibly lonely lives because we have to set boundaries to avoid these hurtful & ignorant comments. /9

It’s been heartbreaking to watch. For me personally… the hardest part is when it comes from people who are meant to love you. People who’ve been in your life for ages and witnessed your struggles first hand. Who now doubt how sick you are. /5

That veneer of pretending is gone. Replaced with hatred that ranges from subtle gaslighting to outright eugenics.

People will tell us to “stay home forever” before they will even consider taking a small step to keep us safe. They support euthanasia policies that target us. /4

“If you were really THAT sick you’d be:”

In hospital
Have full time care
Be getting ‘fixed’
Trying harder
Getting financial help
Dead

The list goes on & on.

We ARE that sick & none of these options apply because our systems are broken & ableism is rampant.

There's no real option to survive if you're disabled/chronically ill

1. Continue to work and get more sick

2. Fight for years to get benefits that aren't enough to survive on

3. Have a spouse/family that supports you, but also high risk for abuse

4. Crowd options, mutual aid

Very tired of assholes assuming the homeless have access to resources and are just choosing not to use them.

I've been on a waiting list for four years for housing. Why don't you stfu or put your actions and money where your mouth is.
