I think Bluesky is currently the best social media platform for keeping misinformation to a minimum, maybe because it’s not popular enough to be a target yet

Half the shit my friends, including fellow academics, share on Facebook is made up crap that they believe is real

Threads is atrocious too

IL election judge here and we dont require an ID to vote (its required when you register to vote). We DO require a signature match, and that signature is verified by *both* a Republican and Democratic judge. My precinct is senior farmers, 90% GOP, and the elderly women are going to be in for a shock

CBS not airing James Talarico’s interview with Stephen Colbert because they were supposedly worried about FCC backlash is a really big deal. Stephen Colbert was told not to say anything and did so anyways. This man is not getting enough credit for standing up for free speech.

Honoring Jesse Jackson is simply remembering your are somebody. Saw him at Syracuse University in 1993 and yes, he did offer that famous call-and-respond at the end of his talk. Deep and profound and needed more than ever now.

I know y'all wish Black folks would stop talking about racism. Here's what you can do. Stop shoving your racism in our faces constantly so we don't have to deal with it!

Bari Weiss built her career in part by whining about how the left was supposedly censoring conservatives. “The Free Press” - the unironic title of her publication - ran numerous pieces about a “censorship-industrial complex.”

Now, under her watch, we get to see real censorship - and hypocrisy.

Rev. Jesse Jackson's "I *am* somebody..." remains one of the all-time great pieces of 20th century rhetoric / agitprop

And he could deliver it at a Black separatist meeting, the Democratic National Convention, or on god-blessed Sesame Street (see below 🥹)

RIP to the Voice of the Voiceless

We say goodbye to a man who refused to accept the world as it was.

Jesse Jackson didn’t just march in history he helped write it. He stood in the long shadow of Martin Luther King Jr. and refused to let that dream fade when the cameras left and the crowds went home.
Rev. Jesse Jackson, civil rights icon and two-time presidential candidate, dies at 84
“Our father was a servant leader — not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world,” the Jackson family said in a statement Tuesday.

We ached and never touched that stuff;
Our reach was never quite enough.
If only we had taller been
And touched God's cuff, his hem,
We would not have to go with them,
Who've gone before,
Who, short as us stood, as they could stand

Did you see this today?

Anti #ICE protesters carried a MASSIVE U.S.
Constitution through the streets of Minneapolis.
Not a flag.
Not a slogan.
The Constitution.
Thousands marched, demanding accountability and asking whether federal enforcement is aligning with the rights written on those pages.
