All three of Julia's points are good ones. As to the first in particular, the more or worse disabled you are, the more that clean air tends to matter. I'd add a fourth: less-congested streets are safer for everyone, and that safety also accrues more the more you are disabled. Lower Manhattan is wild
Just one of the reason why I disagree that congestion pricing is "ableist" is that cleaner air is good for disabled people, especially those with respiratory issues. e360.yale.edu/digest/new-y...

Stephen Miller said that the children of immigrants fail society.

Fun Fact:
Of the 6 American winners of science Nobels this year, 3 were born outside the US. The émigré fraction of U.S. Nobels in physics, chemistry & medicine now stands at 40 percent.

My assessment of the Trump national security strategy: "it sees the United States’ adversaries as partners in that war, but it does not see how much U.S. power relies on the voluntary assistance of other countries."

But I thought the only real way to stop drug trafficking was to blow up all the non-American boats in the Caribbean. /s
Whoa … this is really strange.

Federal law enforcement managed to confiscate almost two tons of cocaine, and arrest 3 suspects, without blowing the boat out of the water or killing anyone.

Ennion was the first glassmaker to ‘brand’ his work by incorporating his name into the mould’s design, some 2000 years ago!

iPhone video of a substorm just now at 11:41 pm outside my apartment in North Pole, Alaska.

Unfortunately, the ice fog and pollution made things hard to see.

The iPhone does a good job replicating what my eyes could pick up, though.

Cold night here, too, about -25 F.

It is fascinating (derogatory) to watch the spread of propaganda and hate across the internet, and watch leadership throw up their hands and walk away (because it makes them rich).

Many spaces, anonymous or not, in early internet days, were fairly successfully moderated.
New from me: It's high time for T&S leaders at big tech platforms to speak up.

We need to hear the US-based VPs of T&S at Apple, Google, Meta, TikTok and other platforms say in one voice that content moderation is not censorship.
Briefing: Trump administration wants to ban foreign fact-checkers and online safety workers

This, among millions of other reasons, is why any attempt to meet transphobes in the middle was always a form of abandoning trans people.

Like immigrant demonization, any attempt at all to give any credence to right wing talking points was always just ammunition for the right wing.
BREAKING: Trump administration plans to end prison rape protections for trans & intersex people, memo says. A DOJ memo says certain standards under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) do not align with Trump’s Jan. 20 anti-trans executive order, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports.

As the descendant of people who were forcibly brought here in the early 18th century by Dutch and British slavers, please Representative, tell me more about "what American is all about."
Rep. Kat Cammarck: "Today, one in six people in the US is foreign born. That quite frankly is not sustainable to maintain a culture that we are known for here in the United States."

Can’t tell you how often I’ve had to ask critics what measure they think is better than self-report to know how someone subjectively feels

recently reviewers even asked us how people could possibly rate how good they felt 🤪
As if other a pulse measure or something would be better 😜
