I am a NY Times subscriber (for just the 'online paper') so I am wee bit conflicted about the NY Times permanently trying to upsell me essentially each of the 'successful initiatives' you list.
I admire the business acumen, but remain a customer, not a shareholder.

You are also allowed to spike it a little with whiskey, rum, brandy, ... or alike. Non-fancy ones for cocktails will do. The combination can be quite nice on a cold day.

The first set of the concert performed the record to celebrate its 50th anniversary --- and as the album starts off with the title track, the show started COOKING. If someone recorded that opener ... it was truly amazeballs. Funk from the band along with amazing vocals. Just lovely.

Last evening's "outcore" of the 50th anniversary of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" at the CSO by José James featuring Lizz Wright along with Marcus Machado (g), BIGYUKI (p), Ben Williams (b), and Jharis Yokley (dr) closed it out with "What's Going On". Timely.

With a little bit of help from friends ... namely a good pinch of dry yeast as my sourdough is in the process of restarting. Last loaves were very 'meh'. This one looks promising. #breadsky

Heads are going to explode 💥

Cato Institute just nuked the lie. Immigrants have cut U.S. deficits by $14.5 TRILLION since 1994, slashing the national debt by a third.

All that “immigrants are bleeding us dry” noise? Absolute bullshit.

But there is nothing wrong with allowing authors to add details. And when nothing is provided it does in fact redirect back to the CRAN page!

E.g. my little zigg package has doi.org/10.32614/CRA... and that faithfully redirects to cran.r-project.org/package=zigg. What's not to like?

I also find it confusing! Before posting, I compared what `citation("ggplot2")` produces (which follows the `CITATION` file) versus a small package of mine which I knew has no such file. For the latter R did indeed create a new citation record with DOI on the fly. Maybe ask on r-package-devel?

You can override the automagically generated entry with an explicit one. If present, it wins. It appears team ggplot2 put an explicit one here three years ago which is now moderately scale so maybe time to file an issue if you want.

SVN commit r89366 brought two new and very interesting accessor for CRAN state internals and history to #rstats 'R-devel'.

We can probably build on these: history of 'actions', and history/state of 'issues'.

American Exceptionalism, continued. "Melania" IMDB rankings by country, updated.

US 1.6 / 10, n = 9.9k
UK 1.0 / 10, n = 1.5k
Canada 1.0 / 10, n = 1.2k
Germany 1.0 / 10, n = 0.9k
Australia 1.0 / 10, n = 0.5k

Overall 1.2 / 10, n = 19k
American Exceptionalis, "Melania" edition. Per country IMDB ratings score and count:

US 1.5/10, n=8.2k
UK 1.0/10, n=1.2k
Canada 1.0/10, n=1k
Germany 1.0/10, n=0.6k
Australia 1.0/10, n=0.5k

I.e. "what's wrong with us?" No, don't answer that...
IMDB score of 1.0. A record (in the way you don't want to have a record....). So limits to astroturfing discovered.

And maybe, just maybe, the movie wasn't worth USD 75 million? Who knew. [ Hint: Everybody did. Still just one of 10^umpteen bribes ... ]

Good question, and no idea, maybe someone else knows?

I also have not yet checked at Polymarket for odds on "Best Picture" or "Best Actress" Oscars.
