Linus Torvalds posted the Visio/SFC ruling pdf on mastodon (alt txt), calling it a "GPLv2 affirmation" concluding that the kernel covers software without direct implications for userspace software. This matches the #rstats situation: R itself is GPL-2+, but does not impose on licenses of user code.

Earlier today I listened to a podcast where someone described their work "using a new AI method such as clustering".

The relevant Wikipedia page has citations from the 1930s.

And how is your day going?

Eleven months down. Leaves 1127 days. One day at a time.

Some months feel longer than others. Recently all of them do. But we are moving on, one day a time.

A damning indictment of Ken Martin and Democratic Party leadership. Yes, the autopsy will piss people off (especially those who led the Biden and the Harris campaigns). That's the point. Their failures were catastrophic for the country. Dems also need to show voters they get it and are reforming.
NEWS: The DNC is killing off its 2024 autopsy.

DNC Chairman Ken Martin has decided not to publish a public report, believing that a backward-looking document would be counterproductive as the party has started winning.

The great McCoy Tyner, born today in 1938.

“I play what I live,” he said. “My music is a reflection of the life I’ve lived so far, and of the people I’ve been blessed to be around. Everything that happens to you, everything you see, it all goes into the music somehow.”

The University of Nebraska is closing their statistics department. Especially if you're all in on AI this is so short-sighted. It's like launching the first spacecraft into outer space and being like "welp time to close astrophysics and rocketry and only teach classes on buckling up your seat belts"
