So I finally rolled out the new peteskerritt.com website today-- moving from Wix back to WordPress. It's been a slower day in the office, so I've had some extra time to write a couple of things and get them posted.

While I can't/won't guarantee update schedules, this is where my writing will go.

PlayStation owners saw three numbered Final Fantasy games in less than 4 years. These weren’t slapdash, either.

Now you’re lucky to get one per console generation. Why give a shit about FF when you have to wait 7-8 years between sequels because development has become so grotesquely bloated?

When HAMSTER Corp releases Jumping Flash! in its Console Archives series, I will jump for joy. I’ll do the same for Jumping Flash! 2.

And if Robbit Mon Dieu somehow makes it? My brain would melt. (Which is fine.)

Nobody will ever convince me that “influencers” are anything but blights on the rest of humanity and deserve every bit of public shaming they get whilst they roll around in cash.
AI is so inherently popular that companies are paying influencers up to $600,000 to tell people how awesome it is:

Look at Konami with its face turn after years of being a video game publisher heel.

You know what would lift you to Superstar status, Konami? Get that Hudson Soft TurboGrafx stuff back into circulation.

Surprise -- our next game is out TOMORROW! We're celebrating the landmark release of the original Rayman with some surprising new features. Really excited for you to see what the team's done with this one.
Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition releases tomorrow and collects five versions of the original game, and a "never-before-playable" SNES prototype. gameinformer.com/2026/02/12/r...

For the video game world - particularly console - expect more products targeted at high income consumers (higher priced accessories, subscription tiers, software versions, etc).

The faux Pogs are tempting. That said, I've already preordered the digital version and that'll work well enough without the three-month wait.

I don’t want to say much yet, as I’ll be talking Gamecube (and original Xbox) a lot more as their 25th anniversaries approach in November, but man.

Rogue Leader is nearing a quarter of a century old now, and I think it still looks fantastic— especially on a CRT.

The next original Xbox game that I get will be number 350. It’s well below the big boys (PlayStation & PS2), but firmly ahead of N64.

The PlayStation & PS2 numbers include some disc-only copies that I’ve kept after getting complete-in-case copies as upgrades.

If there is a God, wouldn't it be more amusing for it to watch humanity destroy itself instead of smiting humanity for being awful?

Fighting games need single-player content for *me* to consider sinking any kind of money into them, but that's the same of *any* genre for me-- as I abhor multiplayer and wouldn't do it if paid to do so.

That said? Me != everyone. Many players these days are multiplayer-centric, so... yeah.
The 2XKO situation just reaffirms to me that Fighting Games need to have single player content.

Circana projects 2026 US consumer spending on video game hardware, content and accessories to grow 3% vs 2025, to $62.8B.

This would break the current record high of $61.7B reached in 2021.

However, there are several factors that could wreak havoc on that outlook...

This is an overlooked NES game-- though @gamesack.net just talked about it in a recent episode. I'm pretty bad at the Rolling Thunder formula, but I do enjoy this game (from time to time). Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery-- or however the saying goes.
Have you played Codename Viper? It's a Rolling Thunder clone with a more American military/action movie style approach. It was also developed for the NES and isn't an arcade port which I think gives it a better feel than RT, although I love the style of Rolling Thunder. This is a fun one though.
