Every artist I know is really struggling right now. Financially, emotionally, their confidence, in general.

If you like an artist's work, support them any way you can. Buying their stuff or subscribing to their Patreon is great, but words of encouragement are also incredibly helpful.

Every janitor I've met literally gives no fucks if trans people are using the bathroom. They just want people to clean up after themselves and flush.

Talking to people here makes me wanna eat my hair
To be smart, we have to go offline with our thoughts.

And when we "speak" online, we have to WRITE, instead.

Use the written word to draft, revise, edit, and proof-read your submissions to the digital public.

Because it IS public.

Then quadruple your effort in your offline life.

Find a way.

Yes, this is a cult. Yes, this isn't okay. However can we look at the irony (or possibly intentional) of the design here? Why does he have the likeness of a "dictator for life" that lived 2000 years ago? One that became a novelty pencil holder because of how be died? One that is a mascot for pizza?

The part that really rings true for me as a comic creator is:

“A sentence should contain no unnecessary words”

I am famously verbose among my IRL friends, and it’s a daily struggle to work w/ the constraints of what words will fit in speech bubbles. But being concise has made me a better writer.
Here's an odd thing I rarely mention in interviews: some of the most important advice I ever read in my career as a comic book artist was in Strunk & White's THE ELEMENTS OF STYLE.

It's for writers, not artists, but it helped me understand what masters like Alex Toth & Roy Crane were doing.

She stood frozen, watching them chant. These were people she had considered her inner circle, her friends and family, now thrusting their hands skyward in unity against everything she was. Moments before, she couldn't imagine a future without them. 1/8 #resist

Questions I want to learn before I die.
1. How do societies validate different forms of knowledge?
2. What determines which scientific ideas gain acceptance?
3. How do cultural beliefs influence scientific understanding?

This is the way…

“The elected officials in Washington have to stop protesting in Washington. They have to go back to their districts…show the consequences…show the school that isn’t operating…they have to make it real.”

With social media, word will spread to neighboring districts—even red ones.

Letters went out to federal workers this morning stating they were fired due to poor performance. However, all employees had been rated as “exceptional” performers by their supervisors. Please keep these records and pursue wrongful termination claims. Let the lawsuits begin.

You cannot fire so many people and shutter so many agencies and services and not expect things to start to go very bad very quickly.

Our job is to highlight not only the chaos and cruelty of the firings, but also the devastating consequences.

The public must turn on this madness and soon.

I have to pace myself with news & one way of avoiding randomly descending into rabbit holes of stress-inducing internet material is listening to full albums on CD.

Physical media is still delightful in part because they can’t wedge new medication commercials into my classic BB King records.
