Call me old-fashioned, but following evidence-based policy on reducing alcohol limits to reduce "killing off" pedestrians and other road users seems pretty sensible.
It's not actually obligatory to drink booze in a pub, plenty of modern non-alcoholic options.
Also let's improve walking routes!

Healthy communities need safe, accessible spaces where children can play.
Today I’m asking the government to ensure our planning system makes space for play in housing developments.

Play sufficiency is so much more than green spaces and play spaces. It should be about housing densities, streets and transport infrastructure. Green spaces and play spaces were proposed as play infrastructure in the twentieth century mainly as a way to avoid doing anything meaningful about traffic.

We really need to focus new development around our existing (and future) sustainable transport infrastructure. This project would reverse the trend of car-dependent development around the North East and enable people to live in homes where public transport was the obvious choice. Vote for Metroland!
