Happening now: Hakeem Jeffries holds a press conference with Rev. William Barber and others, decrying cuts to healthcare and voicing concerns about expiring SNAP benefits.

Jeffries calls healthcare cuts “policy violence.”

Barber says they asked Johnson for a meeting, but he was “too busy”

Indicting anyone on pretextual charges like this is bad. I don't think the fact that one of the indictees is a minor candidate for U.S. House matters in the slightest.

I’m running for the U.S. Senate.

Billionaires have taken over Texas and taken over America — but together, we can take power back for working people.

We’re six months in, and it’s already impossible to remember we’re in this mess because egg prices were a little high last fall.

Question: If a liberal President were acting as Trump is, ignoring law and custom in pursuit of some substantive policy goals that we like, what would you think?

I see all it took is one night and the Epstein story is all but gone, replaced with fascism-porn about canceling some public TV and radio contracts.

I am seeing people suggest that nonprofits shouldn't work with other orgs or people who hold at least one (1) repugnant view, and I have to tell you that if everyone followed that advice then nonprofits couldn't work with anyone.

The only thing saving Hegseth's job right now is the White House staff's inability to think of a reason why appointing Hegseth in the first place wasn't actually Trump's fault.

VERY IMPORTANT: This is just a trick. It's a way for Democratic senator to say they oppose the bill while letting it pass. It's not much of a trick. I mean, everyone will see it. But still this is simply a way of hoodwinking constituents. If they want to vote for it just vote for it.
One more thing: Punchbowl reports that some Democratic senators are considering allowing the CR to proceed to a floor vote, lowering the threshold from 60 to 51 votes. Any such vote is the same as a vote for the CR but with even less integrity. Please encourage your colleagues to be better than this

Been saying this a lot recently: it’s important to continue to assert existing legal tenets and protections. Just because the admin says something doesn’t make it true or legal. If your response is “nothing in the law matters anymore,” that’s not particularly useful, nor actually true (for now)
Again, the Secretary of State has no authority to “revoke” green cards.
UPDATE — Secretary of State Marco Rubio has now commented on the Trump admin’s detaining & attempted green card revocation of a Columbia Gaza encampment student negotiator:
“We will be revoking the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported.”

Everybody's upset abt this or that thing Dems did or didn't do at the faux-SOTU. Poor messaging, poor this, bad that. Very few of those things matter much or will be things we'll remember in a couple months. What they do on the CR really does matter. A LOT. That shld be 10x more focus anything else.

Rules for Trump/Mush opposition: Don’t react to outrageous statements, only actions; don’t overreact to DOGE actions than don’t actually do much in the real world; do message like mad with everyone you know who isn’t already in the opposition. Never let anyone get fatalistic, which is their goal.
