Hot dish is basically the same as a casserole even though some will fight to their death there is a difference. The only difference I have ever heard that made some sort of sense is that in a hot dish things are layered while a casserole everything is mixed together.

As a SoCal raised kid, Minnesota was one of the most welcoming places I’ve ever experienced. Snowmobiles, sushi, Thai food, samosas, hot dish from the neighbors, it was so much more metropolitan than what I expected.
Yeah, it has its regressive parts, but the cities are the American dream.

This again is why Minnesota is nucleus of repression and the resistance. This largely white place - far from the "coastal elites" - has the nerve to attempt true multi-racial democracy, enacting progressive policies, having highest voting participation and quality of life indicators. How dare they.
