I would like to be wrong abt this. I would like for white conservatism to accept dissent & respect the rights & ideas of others. I would love to live in an actual democracy. Until we actually address the problem of chronic right wing lawlessness, however, all the rest is just wishful thinking.
This is it.

Dismantling ACA isn’t about punishing insurance cos. The subsidies Dems were haggling for are tax credits. That’s our money. Not theirs. They’re talking about health savings as pre-tax dollars like your 401k. This is deregulation. Letting insurance cos resume denying coverage and selling junk plans.

They did it! Flights delayed, workers working with no pay, parks closed, troops eating at food banks... But it was all worth it because they got this totally meaningless vote! Well done Dems.
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

JD Vance now leads the GOP. And he wants the party to welcome Hitler lovers.
The VP wants peace with gutter racists who spew vile hatred at his wife. And the press refuses to reckon with what this means.
