Of Malady and Mortality: Five Books to Read When Your Spouse Is Diagnosed with Cancer
When my wife was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, I instinctively reached for books. These books became my companions during our four-year journey with cancer. They offered […]

Reading that treatment resistant depression might indicate personality disorders. Reading that bipolar depression isn’t real & it’s due to faulty thoughts & behaviours. Reading that we shouldn’t be on meds. Basically feeling like an absolute failure today.😢

A two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis finds no causal relationship between #depression & myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (#MECFS).

Important: people w ME/CFS are NOT “just depressed.” #MedEd

Reminder that if you ever need a meal and can't afford it, find your local gurudwara, they will feed you a great hot meal for free, you won't even have to fetch a plate for yourself and they'll also give you a place to crash if you don't have one and there's room. gurudwara is open to all always

New position statement on pain in the older person just dropped via ANZSGM. I particularly liked point 3.

"3. The gold standard for pain assessment is self-report. A person reporting pain should be believed, even in the absence of demonstrable pathology likely to explain the pain."

yearly scans & labs clear - no cancer 10 years! I quietly quit all treatment 2 yrs ago. Couldn’t tolerate side effects (effucks). So I took a break for 3 months & by the end of that I decided to take an extended break. Which turned into quitting all treatment. 1/4

We DO NOT throw perfectly good food away in this house.

We put leftovers in a Tupperware & let it go bad, THEN throw it out!

Please make sure you put something in your bio to tell people who you are! This is how we find each other!

Like and repost other's posts! This is how we build Bluesky!

And helps show you are not a bot!

Death,
It’s hard to talk about,
Even harder when its NOT a hypothetical scenario,
But it is so important to keep talking,
Because in talking ‘death’, we live a little better when we live with #MetastaticCancer

It might be EBM but until #qualitative research is done we don’t understand the how & why it’s so hard to implement. I hope the administrators & team leads listen!
Published! A #qualitative review of ERAS implementation (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, not the Swiftie tour 🤣) with Georgia Tobiano, Wendy Chaboyer, Josie Lovegrove, Keith Addy and Brigid Gillespie. Spoiler alert- evidence and goodwill only goes so far without RESOURCING.
