Watching Trump's press conference about the strike on Venezuela.

Holy hell this man is insane, how can *anyone* not see that?

Wtaf?

The USA is not a reliable ally. The UK and Europe need to recognise that, start funding our own defence properly, and make our economies less reliant on the US. Urgently.

I was lucky to meet not one, not two, but three wonderful new members of @greenparty.org.uk at a (non-political!) party tonight.

It's incredibly heartening to meet some of the many people who are supporting the Green Party's progressive mission and helping to #MakeHopeNormalAgain 💚

We should not rest until the last food bank closes due to a lack of demand
Sophy Ridge to someone from Trussell: "Can I just ask, demand for food banks is going up and this is often seen as a negative thing basically, that it shows that more people are in need turning to food banks. Could you flip that and say its a good thing..."

er, no.

British politics is a mess. Food, energy, housing are all too expensive. Major parties are all flogging the dead horse of trickle down. So I’m joining the Green Party. Britain needs an economy that works for workers, for small businesses, and future generations. @greenparty.org.uk

I'm relieved that this week we will finally see the publication of the government's strategy for tackling violence against women and girls. We are facing an emergency - one woman is killed on average every three days, and years of underfunding have left support decimated.

Reports from @amnestyuk.bsky.social clearly show that UK-made components have been found in weapons in the awful conflict in Sudan. But this government refuses to act. Once again, the minister refused to acknowledge the reality of the situation when I confronted him yesterday.

I'm on my way to a Chanukah event. It should be a celebration but instead our community is once again mourning.

I will be thinking of everyone in Australia and those around the world in the Jewish Community who know this fear and loss.

We stand with you.

Ho ho ho! 🎅

A fun evening being a Christmas elf for tonight's Illuminated Boat Parade, alongside Cllr Brown (he has the beard for it!) as Santa, giving out presents and leading the flotillas down the Harbour.

Thanks to the Harbour team for letting (making?) us do this! A great laugh all round.

Questionable headline aside, Verdant is a welcome development.

The Green Party has a bold, ambitious programme for the progressive left-wing economics our country needs - it is right that we ensure our platform is credible and achievable.

I look forward to seeing Verdant's work.

Well worth watching as @shonajemphrey.bsky.social delivers one of the best speeches calling out Labour's BS that you'll ever see 👏
Despite Labour bringing a wrecking amendment that fell, and abstaining on the vote, the Green group passed a full council motion this week to ask the government not to cut funds to the vital Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund.

Today I chaired the Finance Sub-Committee's annual budget review, with over a £Billion of spending on the agenda!

I'm proud of the work that has led to this point, and of @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social's record of innovative delivery: investing in efficiency to cut costs while improving outcomes.

1) Alcohol IS A DRUG
2) Drugs are really accessible now & dealers dont ask for ID to check ages
3) legally regulating drugs means access based on risk e.g. licensed venues or through health professionals with safeguards

It is about getting control of an out of control, harmful market.

Fact check:

🛡️Green policy is to stay in NATO and push for internal reforms.

💊The war on drugs has failed; a legalised, regulated and health-based approach is the only viable option.

🟢The fact the Prime Minister is spending time here to bash the Greens proves that we're doing the right thing.

I've been stunned that a Labour Gov't has doubled down on what the Tories started in suppressing protest.
Imagine what would be suppressed and how, if we had a Reform Government.
The Green Party will always stand up for the right to protest, no matter what your beliefs.

This government has no courage to actually change things in a meaninful way.

As with the budget, the best it can do is tinker around the edges while the system gets worse.

A disgraceful withdrawal of fundamental rights that the Government has no electoral mandate for.
Instead of properly funding justice, Labour will undo centuries of due process. This will send people to jail for years with no jury trial or right of appeal. Shameful.

Instead of further complicating the tax code and entrenching intergenerational inequality, just link the state pension and personal allowance so they rise in sync?

The Green Party would replace the unsustainable triple lock with inflation/wage uprating and UBI.
