three cheers for Nurse Practitioners! 😍🎉

Saw my primary care provider today, an amazing NP. She spent ~45 min talking with me about all kinds of health concerns, from physical to emotional. She prescribed me a med to try out, that I think will help, and she submitted a referral.

If you don’t remember who the “Front Line COVID Critical Care Alliance” is, they did not work on the front lines but sold millions of dollars of hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin - and merch - at flea markets and online and both of the founding members had their medical board certifications revoked.
This is important! IMA (formerly FLCCC) is now running ACIP. Members of key COVID-disinformation groups are leading multiple branches of the government and advisory bodies. Health disinformation has become the law of the land.
Martin Kulldorff, the chair of ACIP, was just appointed chief science officer for the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE).

Kirk Milhoan is the new chair of ACIP.

No Kentucky Home: An update

The Breakthrough Base of Muhlenberg County has little money but plenty of volunteers, ‘big hearts' and hopes of opening a "white flag" shelter for when it's too cold for people to sleep outdoors.

if you ever want to NOT stop being vegan,
listen to the show. they're asked: "why is dark meat juicer than white meat"? They answer calmly and talk about blood vessels.

don't eat cooked blood vessels.
(apparently, that's what makes it "juicy.")

this is a weird time of year (holidays)

At work: please forgive weird emojis you colleagues might send during the holiday season, and stuff. in the US rn, it's thxgiving. which brings up lots nostalgia for ppl and stuff, feelings. For those of us still able to access emotions, which is good! not tuned out living under a fascist regime

it's one thing to drop a slippery jar of Costco chopped garlic (which it turns out, has a LOT of liquid inside, that loves to seep into every crevice) & watch it travel into your heating vent before you can divert it with a kitchen towel.

it's another thing to have nobody to tell this to.

anyone who's like: ohh, is the internet a net positive thing for society and stuff?
those are the old ppl who grew up with places to bike to, and aunts who taught them to play drums, and a grandpa who had a 3-yr supply of homemade canned sauerkraut.
NO, the internet was not a net-positive, for YOU.

my Mom always only bought garlic in bulbs, those dry bulbs above the onions. I said, but look! Mom, you can buy it already chopped up (and held out a plastic or glass bottle to her in the grocery store). she used her hand to wave me off, this wasn't even worthy of a verbal reply.

so flash...

yes I use ChatGPT to rephrase my work emails "in a warm professional tone please," and yes I use "please" when asking chatGPT to do something.

I do read them again, remove any em-dashes, and add a typo so it's not so obvious. They sound much better than my originals.

I'm not proud of this.

cashier: that'll be $18.97. I don't like turkey.

me: thank you, does the card go in this way? (pause waiting for it to beep.) (awkward pause while it processes....)

me: I don't like turkey either.

[as I buy 5 frozen turkeys for less than $20, because they're on sale for 29-cents/lb.]

gotta love the brutally candid sibling who actually answer their phone.

me: I think I come across weird.

sister: well yeh, ya DO.

me: how can I not come across weird?

her: make some friends for christ's sake.

me: ok. But how do I make friends?

her: Stop being weird in a bad way.
