Today I need to do see what else I might need for my Abel Tasman track walk later this week. Very excited! Any tramping tips from #kikorangi gang? It’s been a decade since I did a multi-day hike.
I would love if nz bluesky posted a bit more about what they themselves are doing, and not just what politicians are doing.

Could just be eating toast, walking dogs, finding pretty sea shells.

Something more than endless bad policies

@dieworkwear.bsky.social this is the Health Minister of Papua New Guinea meeting the worst and worst-dressed Prime Minister of New Zealand we’ve ever had. Sorry.
Just wondering what the Menswear guy would make of this picture of the PNG health minister meeting some deranged tourist in ill-fitting clothing.

EXC: Plans are underway for a coordinated strike across the public sector on October 23 featuring:
- Nurses
- Teachers
- Doctors
- and more

If the ballots go ahead it could well be the biggest coordinated strike in NZ history

Tidal wave of strike action planned for October 23
Plans are under way for a co-ordinated strike across much of the public sector, with nurses, teachers and other public sector workers potentially walking off the job on the same day.

Now is a great time to listen to @michaelhobbes.bsky.social and @yrfatfriend.bsky.social on their excellent podcast - Maintenance Phase. The Dr Oz and RFK Jr episodes in particular but any of them are great tbh

You may know the software company Palantir as a contractor for ICE + the military. But in recent months, it's relaunched its merch store & said it wants to be a "lifestyle brand."

What does it mean for Palantir to be a lifestyle brand...? I unpacked it here:

Palantir Wants to Be a Lifestyle Brand
Defense tech giant Palantir is selling T-shirts and tote bags as part of a bid to encourage fans to publicly endorse it.

New Zealand lost its AA+ rating under Key, and regained it under Ardern. If political journalists were willing to include that sort of context it would be much harder for Nicky No-boats to lecture the left on fiscal responsibility. #nzpol

I didn’t know until now that in the original Rosie the Riveter painting, she is crushing a copy of Mein Kampf under her foot. Happy feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary, remembering all the women who crush the serpents of Satan under their heel.

50 days of no booze today. Feels great, scary and real. It’s exciting to see how much more *life* I have in my life. I relied on booze for stress relief and reward and escape. Some people can truly drink moderately- I am not one of them. I’ve stopped before it got worse. #IWNDWYT #soberskeet

I’m guessing it’s not helpful to make statements like ‘Erica Stanford is a racist moron’ but it does make me feel a little bit better.
