I was officially sworn in as a member of the Baltimore City Veterans Commission. It’s a privilege to join this body and stand alongside fellow veterans in service to our community.

I look forward to contributing to initiatives that uplift and support those who have worn the uniform.

Remembering today when pro-GOP media erupted with outrage over Kamala Harris' warning that Trump had plans to militarize the national guard and deploy them on the streets of US cities. Indeed, he had such plans. And now he's implementing them.

It’s true that surprisingly few philosophers have worked on smell, taste and flavour (though thankfully that’s changing). I think that says something both about #philosophy and how dominated by vision we are as a species and a culture… #PhilSmell #PhilTaste #PhilPerception
Two of the novels I read this summer, Süskind’s 'Perfume' and Yuzuki’s 'Butter' both tell stories of murder and revolve around intense sensory experiences. That got me thinking about how little philosophy seems to care about smell and taste

Been quiet on here—just wrapped up 8 weeks at UIUC’s SROP where I researched how language and systems shape how we see ourselves. Presented my work last week and feeling grateful.

I did something a little different this week.

I wrote a reflective piece on anxiety—not as a problem to solve, but as something I’ve been trying to understand and live with more honestly.

Went to a powerful talk last night at UMD Law on how flawed reasoning shapes public life. Huge thanks to the panelists and GreatTalk Inc. for creating space for these conversations. We need more of this. #PublicPhilosophy #Baltimore

Our convo on The Philosophy of Civil Disobedience went deeper than expected. What started with Thoreau turned into a real look at what blocks resistance today—fear, risk, co-optation. Not easy, but necessary. Part two’s on the way.

Do you know who laid the foundation for the FDA?

President Theodore Roosevelt. Do you know why? Because he read a great piece of literature that exposed the mistreatment of immigrant workers and the disgusting, unsanitary practices in meatpacking plants…

The book is called “The Jungle.”

I deleted the Facebook and Instagram apps. I was really nervous because I like using them for finding events. I decided to just take a leap of faith and do it. I’ll probably check @baltimorebeat.bsky.social for events now just to stay hip to everything going on.
