I don't even know what this is about. By which I mean... I don't know which of the dozen impeachable things he did in the last 24 hours this is in reference to.
unclear to me why i haven't seen a single elected calling for impeachment today 🤷
We've all said this for years, but it's absolutely essential: he must be impeached and removed from office. Any "leader" who's not on board with that is no leader at all.

"Well for starters because we're the White House Press Corps and this is the White House Briefing Room and you're the White House Press Secretary..."
Q: The president has accused the other side of encouraging political violence. Isn't that exactly what the president is doing when he says members of Congress should be killed?

LEAVITT: Why aren't you talking about what these members of Congress are doing to encourage and incite violence?

I think it would suck if 400 years after the Scientific Revolution we'd basically figured everything out. I mean you've got 14 billion years of universe and some hairless ape comes along and thinks about it for half a second and gets it? Lame. Be more mysterious, nature.
November 20, 2025 at 2:25 PM
Well I think she shouldn't have done that.

I just woke up from a nap. Was it all just a terrible nightmare? Is it 2005 again?
BREAKING: A federal judge ordered public schools in Texas to remove displays of the Ten Commandments in their classrooms.

The Galileo gambit isn't a bad rhetorical strategy because you're probably not Galileo; it's bad because Galileo wasn't.

You're describing a subculture. Religions being centered on texts is a modern, Western, protestant thing. Hell, "religion" is mostly a modern, Western, protestant thing.
> thousand word post about how the thing i am a prominent member of is not a religion, it is an insular and weird community centered on a few texts where people mostly converge to the same beliefs

i rest my case

Are you actually bad at math or do you just think moral superiority justifies lying?

40M/14k = $2900. 40M/1.56M (total workers) = $26
24M/48k = $500. 24M/490k = $49
69M/20k = $3450. 69M/109k = $630

CEOs make too much but they are simply not the reason workers don't make enough or can't be kept on.
Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

My wokest opinion is probably... fuck yeah let's change our genders everyday. Expression and creativity and experimentation are good and people are people no matter what and the future's gonna be weird and we need to fucking get used to it.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

FOUNDATION - Opened my mind to big SF ideas. Sue me.
THE THINGS THEY CARRIED - Changed how I thought about narrative.
PARADOX by John Meaney - Changed my writing style (colons! em-dashes!).
Stephen King's THE MIST - Now I'm afraid of fog.
WATERSHIP DOWN - Books can make me cry?
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

Actually thought Dems being willing to shut down the government to fight for healthcare meant they'd be willing to... fight for healthcare. Ugh. I will never regret not being a registered Democrat.

@democrats.senate.gov A minority party with popular support that caves to a lawless autocrat and his fascist enablers is useless. If you're going to vote to let up the pressure in exchange for a promise made with fingers crossed, instead resign and live in shame.

"The guy who fell over doesn't matter; the president not caring about him is what matters!" is a wild but true response to this correction.
A man collapsed in the Oval Office yesterday. The internet got the story wrong.

My experience struggling to correct the record — including on Bluesky! — and the warning signs as AI, aggregation, and social media increasingly drive our news consumption.

Mr. President, you said you've taken in "hundreds of trillions of dollars" in tariffs. While inexact, that's a sum which would, at a minimum, fully fund the US government for decades. What exactly is stopping you from, at the very very least, funding SNAP for November?
Trump on SNAP: "Our country has to remain very liquid because problems, catastrophes, wars -- it could be anything. We have to remain liquid. We can't give everything away."

I'm not a lawyer but in a TV show this is where the defense attorney would object and say, "Hmm, are you sure about that? Your Honor, can we get a reading of the charges again?"

Maya Hawke says she was "scared" to audition for Quentin Tarantino’s ‘ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD’:

“I have known him my whole life. But, of course, in the room that day, he was very different, you know? He wasn’t, like, kooky Uncle Quentin — he was in serious mode.”
