Little friends you can find around my yard in the fall 🍂

I've been playing around with Procreates new brushes, lot's of fun textures to experiment with! Haven't had a ton of time to draw lately so this felt like a special little love letter to the season

This is SUCH a great story. I know this piece of land well, grew up at a now-closed resort on one side and my brother went to camp just on the far side. I'm so proud of these nuns! (And look how grumpy the Bishop looks). 19thnews.org/2025/11/cath...
For the first time, Catholic sisters return land to a Tribal nation
"This return represents more than the restoration of land — it is the restoration of balance, dignity, and our sacred connection to the places our ancestors once walked."

i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, “A Grief Observed”

basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again.

i feel that with my dad.

people should plant more fall blooms in portland. i saw a clump of pretty cosmos this morning, some little red and white flowers and a small batch of hydrangea hanging on. this chicory was a weed but still nice contrast with the leaves.

do it in portland. i know many people who work downtown & shop at costco.
This breaks some people’s brains.

In most cities, Costco stores fuel sprawl & car dependency.

In Vancouver, our full-sized downtown Costco has residential towers above & a skytrain station next door. LOTS of customers don’t drive to it.

We live a block from it. We call it “the convenience store.”

rally against having traditions that might intentionally or unintentionally exclude people. there’s too many insular traditions that uphold capitalistic values & patriarchal standards. there’s not enough teaching about active community solidarity.

They destroyed our food systems, then forced us to rely on government ration

i hope someone funds a startup to keep these writers employed and to keep people informed…
I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.
