One thing that astonishes me about the Herzog visit is that Israel has murdered more journalists than any other state in the 21st century, and he hasn’t faced a single question about this (to my knowledge) from the Australian media

“Criticism of a nation state is not inherently #antisemetic, and yet the implication from our leaders has been that raising a #genocide during a genocide, while the head of state of the nation credibly accused of carrying out that genocide is visiting, is a hateful act.” @amyremeikis.bsky.social
This is not 'social cohesion' – it's just a tighter net to trap us all
Australians have been lectured a lot on social cohesion, but it reached a fever pitch after protests against the visit by Israel’s president.

What does justify a royal commission is the actions of the NSW government and NSW Police in the lead-up to and events of last night in the Sydney CBD. Any internal investigation will have no credibility.

It wasn’t impossible - the cops where there to incite violence. And Albanese (and everyone else) knew this would happen and he let it.

My question is to Chris Minns:
How does one policeman grabbing and holding a passive protester by the shirt so that other policemen can lay punches into him contribute to social cohesion?

Was there ever any doubt this is how the media would report the protests? Was there ever any doubt that the PM would wheel out his "more in sorrow than in anger" schtick and side with the police?
