Theory predicted two kinds of fibrosis, hot and cold.
We show in vivo that hot and cold fibrosis describe heart failure, and heart attack, respectively, showing that they are very different disease states. @shovalmiyara.bsky.social @eldadtzahor.bsky.social
Our work made it to the cover of @cp-cellsystems.bsky.social ! 🥳

Cold and hot fibrosis define clinically distinct cardiac pathologies

A computational pipeline for spatial mechano-transcriptomics - Nature Methods
The authors present a computational framework that leverages mechanical force inference and spatial transcriptomics to enable analyses of the interplay between the transcriptomic and mechanical state.

Another day, another funky gene regulatory network behaviour! In our latest paper, we show how the mushroom bifurcation can encode an ultra-long biochemical timer. Even more interestingly, extrinsic noise can be used to improve timing precision! 🤯

Local nearby bifurcations lead to synergies in critical slowing down: The case of mushroom bifurcations

Zelensky is a wartime leader watching his people suffer and die under Russian attacks every day. To be lectured and lied to by Trump and Vance, as they defend the war criminal dictator committing these atrocities, is unimaginable agony. An everlasting shame for America.
Trump has not uttered a critical word about Putin but he and his VP publicly belittled the leader of the nation Putin invaded.

The way you were taught quantum mechanics depends on when you were a student. In Nature Reviews Physics, physicist and historian David Kaiser charts how the emphasis of quantum education has oscillated between philosophy and practicality. https://go.nature.com/40MyjiG 🔒

Happy to share this- we analyze the hierarchical organization of attractor landscapes in dense associative memories and how it can facilitate transitions between attractor states. We use this to explain the control of transitions between stem and differentiated identities. arxiv.org/abs/2412.11336
Hierarchical Control of State Transitions in Dense Associative Memories
We analyze a generalization of Modern Hopfield networks that emerges naturally in the gene regulatory networks that control cellular identity. Here gene expression patterns correspond to stored memori...

New preprint: Ageing is tightly reflected in longitudinal evolution of DNA methylation marks. We show that ageing also leaves a stereotypic footprint in how DNA methylation is correlated in the genome: positions that are roughly 500bp apart become more correlated. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
