Things you can do this Friday to show up for your community while striking against the state:
Non-exhaustive and in no particular order, things you can do instead of work, school, or shopping.
1. Protest. There are plenty to choose from, many of which are staging around local ICE offices and detention centers. There is an intersection of issues that are extremely volatile at the moment. Engage. Use a search engine and type 'your city' + general strike' to get the ball rolling. There are power in numbers. PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS AND READ UP ABOUT PROTEST SAFETY BEFOFE ATTENDING IN PERSON EVENTS. 2. In lieu of work, reorganize your finances. Divest from big banks and join a credit union. Do this on Friday (or at least begin the research). 3. In lieu of school attendance, journal about a topic of interest. Go to your local library and check out a book on your topic or utilize their digital resources. 4. Learn about the original inhabitants of the land you occupy. This is the number one way to begin deconstructing the colonial and capitalistic power structures that hold us here. 5. Instead of shopping, mend or repair something in your home. Call a friend to borrow something you may have an occasional need for, but don't necessarily have to own. Offer to share what you do have. 6. Art. Please make art. Take a photograph. Journal what you observe. Write a poem or essay pouring your thoughts out. Paint. Doodle. Sculpt. Bang drums. Dance. Try out glitch makeup tutorials and other anti-surveillance design. Share your emotions. 7. Community build. Start at home. Map out your trust circle. Use Friday to have conversations about your roles to relation to one another and what to do in an emergency. 8. BDS for Palestine and our collective freedom. Look up the boycott, divest, sanction list and see where you can redirect your financial support. Money is the loudest voice in the current climate. Be vocal with your funds. 9. Volunteer your time on Friday to an existing local mutual aid movement. 10. Rest. Literally just take the day off to nourish yourself. You can do this without spending a dime. Sleep. Take a walk. Clean your space. Enjoy your own company. Rest. Reminder that no one can do everything on their own. If you have to show up to work, you can show up for your community in other ways. If you only have access to big box stores, please buy your groceries guilt free. We are doing this in waves and numbers. Do what you have the capabilities for that keep you safe. You won't always be comfortable, but you have the capacity for more than you think. We need you! This isn't a one day event. It's an ongoing effort. THIS FRIDAY. No work. No school. No shopping.

Arivaca has less than 700 residents but Border Patrol absolutely swarms it, including checkpoints. Last month, Border Patrol raided the No More Deaths humanitarian camp, which is private property, in this area. They crossed into camp then forcibly busted open trailers and took several migrants.
