Hot take: Plowing right-of-ways for taxpayers inside of motor vehicles but not for taxpayers outside of motor vehicles violates the Equal Protection clause.

This is a small snow plow for sidewalks

If your city plows the roads but leaves sidewalks up to property owners, your city hates pedestrians.

In 2026 employers will be able to provide up to $340 a month in tax-free (to employee) parking benefits, transit, or vanpool, but nothing for people who walk or ride a bike to work.

Maybe we should throw this benefit out the window and encourage taxable general cash benefits for transportation.

The answer is: shop local, give everyone living wages, buy less stuff, especially clothes, support thrifting, a circular economy, *and* buy quality goods made ethically (that will last). Overall cost is the same (or less) and it's better for people & planet.

Consumerism is the problem.
It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap

'Carbon credits' are fake.
Always have been.
Always will be.
It really is that simple.
The Blattner family's Isangi REDD project sold 1.3 million carbon credits.

@hannanik.bsky.social and Jonas Gerding analysed the satellite images of the project and concluded that it led to few, if any, emissions reductions.

These Supreme Court oral arguments on conversion therapy are going to be painful. No matter what is said, know that trying to force someone to be what they're not is psychological torture with measurable negative consequences, and anyone trying to defend such efforts is a bigoted monster.

They are NOT the same. Please spread the word.
Do you know the difference between the National Guard and ICE? The National Guard are your neighbors. They are members of your community. When deployed, they are there to help the community, not harm them.
