The world’s poorest people want the opportunity to work in order to break out of poverty — but capitalism requires capital. As you’ll see in this clip from my travels in Ethiopia, providing new ways for the poor to access banking & small loans unleashes entrepreneurial energy and stokes development.

You don't get rewarded, recognized, acknowledged in the ways that matter for your strength esp in situations you can't talk about, sometimes even with friends/family closest to you..

With these wild beef prices in this economy, now is the time to consider this lifestyle change 👍🏽
Starting to think I kinda wanna stop eating meat. I’m unsure why but it’s been making me feel nauseous after.

Fundraising has kept me fed, housed, and on the dean's list through one high-stakes crisis after another.

I NEVER would have made it without y'all and I truly believe anyone willing to put their body and life on the line for midwifery training (for YEARS of no pay) deserves the same. #Blacksky
ALL of my Midwife Sibs been through the wringer but Susannah has had that plus tax and she's kept going. Being single in this process with no partner to help economically makes it so much harder.

She created a fundraiser in July to assist her through the process, can you be her first supporter?

Hey there, I’m Susie, currently on the journey to becoming a Community Midwife . I… Susanna Susie needs your support for It Takes a Village to Birth a Midwife

Can't beliebe these folks say these things abt themselves unprompted 😩 (also "ex-Morm0n" which says a lot)
When I was 37 I was dating a woman who was 19. The thing that inspired me to break things off was hearing Pearl Jam's "Alive" on the radio - a song released 9 years before her birth she had never heard . In that moment I realized things would never work.

Exciting! Definitely bookmarking and ready, just waiting for a free moment agh!
The new intro recalls what the world was like when I first wrote the book (before iPhones or Twitter) who I was then (a scrappy mid-20yo into street art and culture jamming) and how weird it is to read a "near-future dystopia" NOW IN THE NEAR-FUTURE!

My first time being catcalled was at 10. I was with my grandma. Both her and the man catcalling me laughed when I got uncomfortable and moved to the other side of her to be away from him.

That left fundamental scares on my psyche that I wouldn't wish on anyone else.
Listen! First time I was followed by a man I was ten. TEN.

10.
Ages 12-17 are the absolute worst. Grown men would see me with my backpack on and still try to talk to me 🤢

That said you do have a point the US an imperial power built on settler colonialism. American education does a good job in miseducating Americans to hide the fact they live in an empire.

The American military complex is a terrorist organisation. The fact that Americans can't see their own colonial imperialist history makes them delulu. I tune out folks who think their military is civilian governed, when it's being mobalised by wannabe dictators against it's own civilians.
I automatically tune out people who are anti-military that never served in the military because they conveniently forget the US military is controlled by the CIVILIAN GOVERNMENT. The same people that they vote for. So their opinions about the military & those that served carry no weight.

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

Read with a pinch of salt
You are not human if you don't feel the grief over the death of eco systems. It's not defeatism. It's compassion, and a little fear.
“Pessimism won’t help… change is driven not by defeatism, but by intelligent, courageous, compassionate defiance of the prevailing rules. This is the key to guaranteeing the future”

Democracy thrives on high expectations, great piece by Bob Brown #climate

Successful defiance is a front-foot thing. It is active, not passive.
Optimism in the face of overwhelming odds may seem misguided – but the course of human history remains in our collective hands, and change is driven not by defeatism, but by intelligent, courageous, c...

Thats cause its tied to every politican in the western empire. Across parties classes and against all our moral objections.
That list removes the redemption arch the rich like to write for themselves into their long histories of dehumanizing and oppressing us.
The Epstein files are clearly more damning than we assumed, which is saying something.

Especially our black babies. Stay tf away!
