In case it needs to be said, I love being an islander of the Pacific ocean 💙 I may complain a lot but that feeling is always the predominant background coloring of my thoughts and tone, for those who are new here.
A photo I took from inside of the Rota Pictograph Cave, where the largest number of surviving pictographs (cave drawings) from ancient Chamorro times still exists in the Marianas. This is because Rota was not bombed to high heaven by Amerikan forces durung World War 2, unlike my island. This one is made primarily from dark charcoal against a limestone light colored cave wall, and it depicts two turtles side by side. The first is oriented up, the 2nd oriented Eastward, or almost 3 o clock. Below them are 13 lines drawn very thick. It is thought this is a turtle harvesting calendar for best months to harvest turtle sustainably.

If anyone is struggling to find what doesn't chap your lips and works well in every season (doesn't even melt when left in the car in Las Vegas heat!) I recommend this basic beauty supply item:

My first time making octopus kelaguen 😋🥰 was a success!
A photo of a terra cotta colored reddish orange pinch bowl about 8 oz large filled with colorful and flavorful octopus kelaguen. Similar to ceviche, kelaguen in Chamorro culture is made using a type of protein (usually seafood, in this case reddish pink perfectly steamed and salted local fresh octopus) cooking in its own juice plus an acidic marinade, in this case local fresh lemons. The marinade is also mixed with diced onions, chopped red and green hot peppers also known as donne' and finished off with cold coconut milk.

Hearing this from someone I met 10 years ago in 2015, who was and still is a Champion for Guam's spearfishing and freediving community and who has represented Guam in international competitions for spearfishing 😭🥺💕

You really do not need a filter while taking photos here (above the water), it's just so beautiful. The Marianas, like Palau and Hawai'i, sit in a special place in the Pacific 💙 we have our own high endemism of native diversity and our marine and terrestrial life is *chef's kiss* 🤌🏽

Over the course of many years, I just made these three meme which I humbly present to you
