I post #Nwsl Attendance + #USLSuperLeague. data from league website or club websites. Not affiliated with the nwsl or USL. Just a follower that tracks numbers. Opinions are my own
How many games did Mal play with Ludmila? It couldn’t have been that many. Interested to see Chicago’s next moves to strengthen the squad. They still have some roster spots

Either the Spirit are trying to be GK FC or there’s going to be more transfers ( loans, transfers, hopefully not injuries) .
The Washington Spirit has signed goalkeeper Sara Wojdelko from Vanderbilt University to a one-year contract, the club announced today. Wojdelko begins her professional career in DC as the Spirit’s first 2026 rookie signing.

Thorns 🤝Angel City ownership not knowing the market value of players
The reported fee of $800k for Sam Coffey is way too low #BAONPDX

If this is around the final amount, it’s an even bigger loss for Portland Thorns.

She has two years remaining on the contract.

For a world class talent of her caliber and stature, it’s an absolutely awful return.

Manchester City is finalizing a transfer with the #NWSL's Portland Thorns for #USWNT midfielder Sam Coffey.

Sources say the fee will be at least $800K, possibly higher when final. Coffey is flying to England, terms agreed, wants to experience Europe.

This. The thorns should absolutely demand more. 800k is simply too low. It would be a failure of Agoos and the thorns ownership if they don’t negotiate more.
In the context of the Grace Geyoro transfer fee (which was, it turned out, more like $1.34 million in the end), this is absolute theft from Man City

i swear so many people in the nwsl think fans are stupid
It’s so wild that they have a sporting director who has worked in woso for decades and has all these contacts, but the owner is like “I went to college with this guy” and thinks that’s not unprofessional and irresponsible

Chicago Stars FC want to play at the new Ryan Field at Northwestern starting in 2027 for at least five years & have filed paperwork with Evanston to do so. Sources have told me this is a temporary measure as the club still wants it own stadium #WithTheStars #NWSL evanstonnow.com/womens-pro-s...

"It was pretty humbling because we had a lot of inbound calls from a lot of highly capable individuals as we did not use a search firm." -Chris Long on the coaching search (? from Jillian Carroll)

When I get asked why North American women, Black women, women of color aren’t coaching in the NWSL, I’m just going to send them this quote.

The good ol’ boys network in soccer is alive & well in 🇺🇸. That Chris Long is calling Jesse Marsch “looking for a coach” is a symptom of a systemic problem.
"Jesse Marsch gave me a call and said 'hey, a friend of mine that I went to college with [Chris Long] is looking for a coach. He asked me for someone and I had one name: yours." -Armas (? from Taylor Kauffman @kmbc9.bsky.social)

A guy who has never worked in women’s football said “this is your guy” and you just go with it is the epitome of cronyism.

A lot is happening with the nwsl but this shouldn’t get lost. The stadium has really shielded the Longs from criticism from questionable decisions. This feels like nwsl 1.0. This league is one step forward two steps back.

Like AT this just seems like an opportunity Coffey wanted. Even if the thorns didn’t have the Karina GM era. She would have still wanted to play in Europe. I think a club doing right by a player and letting her pursue her dream is the right decision. Per ESPN this was her desire.
However, this seems like a situation where Jeff Agoos and front office had absolutely no control and wanted to do right by her.

There was almost no way for them to salvage what was lost when Karina LeBlanc was GM.

Nothing is done yet, but seems probable headed that way.

The NWSL ownerships/ FO/Jessica Berman need to wake up. Transfers are always going to happen but they need to realize they are losing momentum.HIP isn’t going to stop that. Do they want to be the best league or shield the poor owners? You can’t do both with the growth of the game. They are fumbling

The players on this roster have less than 15 caps. The exception being Trinity. Its good to see the roster show some progress in expanding the pool. This was the 2025 January Camp

Is the league adding another bald coach? TBD

Sometimes I think the Longs are lucky the stadium really shields some of their decisions. Talking about fans not understanding the vibes between ownership and Armas is something. I think fans wanting an experienced and qualified coach is a good thing.
When the KC Current started a coaching search, owners Angie + Chris Long sounded out a longtime friend: Jesse Marsch, who recommended Chris Armas. Everything clicked from there, they each said.

On @espn.com: Armas about taking the role, plus the Longs on why they believe he is the right hire.
KC Current hire ex-USMNT star Armas as coach
The Kansas City Current officially announced Chris Armas as head coach, as ESPN first reported in December, in the NWSL's second such appointment of a former MLS head coach.

What is happening over there?
Feels kinda nuts to say, but the Wave only have 3 players who started the 2024 season (McNabb, Ascanio, Barcenas)

And only two of those were on the 2023 NWSL Shield winning roster
Gotham FC has acquired veteran midfielder Savannah McCaskill from San Diego Wave FC in exchange for $175,000 in intraleague transfer funds

The theme of this week has been Mutual Terminations
I'm hearing from sources that the 2026 year was mutually terminated (likely so that she could look for other playing opportunities)

Lots of additions for the Spirit this year. Eventually you think there has to be some outgoing transfers.
And another one ✅

Italian 🇮🇹 international Lucia Di Guglielmo has signed for Washington Spirit.

This is how SD treats their Captain.
It’s one thing for a team to decide to part ways with a player, that’s sport, but decorum and respect…
