A wild day for the NWSL doing things MLS would do but for no discernible reason.
BREAKING: The Kansas City Current are finalizing a deal to hire Chris Armas as head coach, sources tell ESPN. Armas most recently coached MLS' Colorado Rapids. KC Current won the #NWSL Shield in 2025.

Adjusted for inflation, this is a little more than 5x the amount of public funds the Company Formerly Known As OnGoal got in 2010 for the Sporting KC stadium + Cerner campus (the latter of which is already vacated).
BREAKING: The Chiefs are set to receive $1.8 billion (!) in public money for a new $3 billion stadium in Kansas. That's the largest public subsidy ever for a U.S. sports stadium project. More coming for practice facility, too.

A lot of non-Kansas Citians just learned that the Chiefs have never played in Kansas.
Breaking news: The Kansas City Chiefs have informed administrative officials that they will announce their move to Kansas today, according to sources who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

UnitedHealth sued The Guardian after we reported on bonuses it paid nursing homes that cut hospital transfers for seniors.

We kept reporting.

Now we’re publishing this on allegations that delayed or denied transfers led to the deaths of nursing home residents:

For as lucky as I have been Chiefs-wise for the last 10 years or so (and most of my life), I'm so bummed right now. Easily the most annoying season ever, a ton of dumb football, and now a seemingly very serious injury to the guy that brought us more joy than anyone. But at least everyone hates us!
