We're hiring a journalism professor in my department at Marist. It's a 1-year thing. (But maybe more? We don't know yet.) This is a job for a scholar, a PhD who can teach media law and history and ethics.

Please spread the word.

I had someone pre-order this book for my birthday, and it could make a great request for a Christmas/holiday present from one of your friends or family.

Supporting books early helps insightful writers like Leander get to pitch and write more of them in the future, which we should all want.

Six months from today, my U.S. men’s national team book, The Long Game, comes out.

So here’s the plan, ok?

1. Preorder it now (please!) and help me build all-important early momentum
2. Forget all about it
3. Get a happy surprise in the mail on May 12

Time and again, Mauricio Pochettino opted for caution and pragmatism with his #USMNT squads. He's left out players with niggles, new clubs or new managers. But there's no avoiding the randomness of timing at the World Cup next summer.

Zohran Mamdani—a real-deal soccer aficionado & magnetic political force—is the right guy to lead the charge against FIFA. For too long, FIFA has been “fully focused on monetizing the sport, no matter the collateral damage,” as @leanderalphabet.bsky.social put it www.theguardian.com/football/202...

I've been an Ajax fan for 30+ years and I don't recall the club being in worse shape than it is right now. (Manager Johnny Heitinga was finally put out of his misery this morning.) Even in the post-van Gaal, late-'90s wilderness, there were (bad) ideas and (mid) people with knowhow.

Now, neither.
