Under the Northwest Side Preservation Ordinance, developers have to pay steep fees to demolish existing residential to build more dense residential but pay $0 to demolish something like this to replace it with single-family homes. Make it make sense.
This blows. Not only are we losing a 130-year-old church, but in return we're getting just four homes on a site that's almost half an acre and only a 10 min walk to the Blue line.

The underlying zoning is RS-3, and it's just a lot easier to build SFHs by right than contend with a rezoning.

Even as some Chicagoans are still coming to grips with the demolition of a vintage church in Ravenswood, another has been slated for demolition and redevelopment.

Shoutout to the three people (out of 300 responses) who have filled out our Grand Avenue petition just to tell us that they are opposed to making streets safer for kids and families

I aspire to have that level of confidence

The second phase of an overhaul of part of Grand Avenue is set to bring more concrete protected bike lanes to the corridor next year — but some business owners and neighbors want to see the plan amended before construction starts. blockclubchi.co/3WQrcUS

Ahem
This is a small snow plow for sidewalks

If your city plows the roads but leaves sidewalks up to property owners, your city hates pedestrians.

Housing alert!

There’s a proposal to turn a car shop on Chicago Avenue into 50 new apartments 🏗️🏘️ in the 36th Ward!

It will have reduced parking and will be on one of the fastest bus lines in the city, the 66. Seems like a slam dunk to us 🏀

Grand Avenue NIMBYs back at it again, with the usual lies about the upcoming protected bike lanes:

- It'll slow down CTA (it won't)
- It'll eliminate parking (not true)
- It'll slow down EMS (EMS is 100% onboard)

And now, they're having secret meetings about it...

📣 "Fund transit now!!"

AHIL members made the trek down to Springfield again today to demand transit reform and funding during this week's veto session. 🏘️🤝🚇

We can't afford to wait until the spring legislative session for transit funding. Let's get a deal done!

Two #GrandAve business owners have started a campaign to “save Grand Ave’s parking” - even though parking utilization is below 50%, and parking is only planned to be removed on one side of the street.

It seems they’re trying to get signatures for a petition against upcoming safety improvements.
