Maybe it’s because I’ve been holding a newborn for two weeks but it has occurred to me a lot that nihilism is not actually tenable long term - eventually someone will come along and try to rebuild a lot of things because that’s just what people do
feel like this goes beyond politics and into tech and maybe culture. there's a kind of future blindness it feels like. a focus on both tearing down structural things/institutions and replacing them with nothing. or building things that disrupt institutions/infrastructure w/ little thought to future
This is, to me, the defining dyamic of everything the last six months. Any game theory notion of deterrence or the shoe being on the other foot ever is entirely gone. Either 1) They don't think they'll ever lose power again or 2) they're confident Democrats won't ever do the same things back to them

Probably not enough said about how much grok is just constantly pouring fuel on the X tire fire. Like, on top of all the ways X has turned poisonous, you have an LLM wrapped around it that is constantly being tweaked to suit the owners idea of what a ‘based robot’ ought to sound like
Grok is doing something very odd right now. It posted blaming DOGE cuts for deaths in the Texas floods, writing, "Facts over feelings." Called out by Musk fans, it doubled down: "Facts aren't woke; they're just facts." Then it backtracked and claimed screenshots of the posts were fake (they're not).

Man despite it all…I love technology. My barber has a high degree of hearing loss, and just recently got hearing aids after dealing with it for several years. Hearing a grown man express with wonderment in his voice “I can hear birds sing! I haven’t heard birds in years!”…man, that was awesome.
