Given how openly everything is being done, it is the perfect time for people to voice their opposition to the administration and change the course of the US so that it focuses on uplifting its own populace over internal repression and external expansion

Protest, organizing, direct action. All helps

Went to the Kevin Smith movie theater to see a showing of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back while Kevin Smith regularly interrupted it with commentary. A fun time watching the R-rated Muppet movie.

I know it’s probably deeply annoying to see Americans go “holy shit, the nakedness of this” after our history of indigenous genocide and global regime change, but what is especially scary about this is that the more recent bullshit alibis at least took some time to drum up and put into place.
Trump: "We're going to have our very large United States oil companies go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure and start making money for the country. And we are ready to stage a second and much larger attack if we need to do so."

Secretaries Rubio and Hegseth looked every Senator in the eye a few weeks ago and said this wasn’t about regime change. I didn’t trust them then and we see now that they blatantly lied to Congress.
President Trump said on Saturday that the U.S. had captured the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro. Follow live updates. www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01...

My kids saw I had an RX Bandits DVD (their early '10s concert film/doc) and asked to watch it. They're now both playing video games as I'm rapt with attention. But they also both said they wanna go see RXB live so worth it

This is a thread of major media outlets falsely anthropomorphising the "Grok" chatbot program and in doing so, actively and directly removing responsibility and accountability from individual people working at X who created a child pornography generator (Elon Musk, Nikita Bier etc)

happy new year, everyone.

if you came to our tour with PUP & @jeffrosenstock.bsky.social you may recall we were raising money for the unhoused & immigrant families in d.c. at the shows.

we ultimately raised $2.5k and donated that today split between legal aid & cash assistance.

Year basically over and where we stand:
40 video games, 80 movies, 12 books, 27 TV shows, and honestly I'm cutting out the board game tracking. I was bad at that.
A highlight or 2 from each:
9 months in and here's where we stand:
33 video games, 53 movies, 10 books, 23 tv shows, and 13 board games
Fun exercise tracking all this. I feel like I missed a board game or two over the past few months but who cares lol
Almost at 6 months down and my pace was consistent except TV shows (largely because all my shows ended) and Board Games (because if anything, I replayed the ones I already played)
Anyway, I completed: 22 video games, 36 movies, 6 books, 16 TV shows, 12 board games

A highlight or two from each:

Ending the year showing my kids Robin Hood: Men in Tights and if they're still up, the first Bill & Ted movie.

Bravely Default's Switch 2 port has made me doubt if any RPG was good. It's a port of a 3DS game to a 4K console that makes me wonder if the 3DS game looks better. It's making me doubt if I like turn-based RPGs.

At least the music is good.

not only does the man do great work at VGHF, he's also laying out really fun weird NFL history.
I wanted to learn about why there's a series of trading cards depicting NFL players as monsters. Then I ended up down a looong rabbit hole.

The answer is: It was part of a union-busting campaign!

I don't feel like I played enough of all the games out in 2025 to feel like this is a settled 2025 GOTY list, but I also still managed to play 30+ games that came out in 2025 enough to rank them, so maybe I'm just broken. Anyway, Here's my Top 15 Games of 2025 (in this moment)

Whatever happens this Packers season from here on out, this season was great because my kids fully got into it all for the first time. My oldest got to go to a game with me. He even just stayed up for the entirety of that baller Malik Willis game (that was otherwise dumb af). Go Pack Go.
