There sure were a bunch of Federation Troopers in the new Metroid Prime 4 trailer. Let's travel back to the first time those fellas made an appearance in the Prime series (it didn't go well for them) youtu.be/pHv4c21mw9U?...

tetsuya mizuguchi truly, earnestly believes, with his whole heart and whole mind, that generic vocal trance from 2003 has the power to awaken humanity's shared consciousness and guide us to universal peace. The strength of his conviction is so powerful that it might actually cause this to be true

Oh so I'm like, fully fully not giving that any mind. Got it.
Just want you to know that when I asked Geoff why he gave the silent treatment to an open letter written by his own "future of games" program (& co-signed by 3000+ industry peers), he replied:

"Because that's my show and nobody gets to tell me how I should use my platform". 💀💀💀
“Don’t gather some of the most brilliant activists in the industry, treat us like crap, and then expect us to do nothing about it.” After the Game Awards cancelled its Future Class programme, @alyssamerc.bsky.social talked to its former honorees

Geoff Keighley really is the perfect representative of the gaming industry:
-unreservedly self serving
-pretends to care about the people actually making the product
-loves to make performative gestures that ultimately go nowhere and help no one
-would almost certainly sell out to the saudis

Think about buying a car, a fun, stress-free negotiating process that everybody loves. Now imagine that if you don’t buy a car you die and if you buy the wrong car you also die
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

There was a late era McCarthy game against the Giants (with McAdoo) that Green Bay won. It was a gross game and I remember feeling like it was an indictment on the McCarthy offense.

Anyway that's what last night's game felt like.

I just need to put this into the world because I can feel the wave of smugness coming from Philly near me:

Hey the Packers only proposed the tush push ban because their president was retiring this year and he took the heat for the other owners. At least the Packers' owner representative was honest.

We had to find out via the website!!! AND we asked what happened to the money!!
perhaps the most egregious thing that happened with the Future Class was when The Game Awards took money from Old Spice in the name of the FC & simply... pocketed it

it wasn't used to fund Future Class initiatives, it wasn't used to help lift marginalised developers

they just profited from us

Rolled (first) credits on Pokemon Legends Z-A.
What a comical step back from Legends Arceus. I still enjoyed it - active battle system cooks on occasion, side quests are generally good, characters likable, the new Megas are inspired - but it seems like a wild misread of what ruled about Arceus.

How else are you going to run an awards show without sponso....

Oh wait I'm hearing most of the show is advertisements and the advertisements cost the game pubs/devs six figures minimum.

This is deplorable.

All this proving once more that The Game Awards is nothing more than a hollow advertisement, designed explicitly for profit. It's not here for acknowledging cultural achievement, improving the industry or celebrating workers.
We should really stop glorifying this event as a 'celebration of games'.
I was a member of TGA Future Class 2022 and lemmee tell ya, my skin has been crawling since

pretty much every interaction I had with them (few) & story I heard about other members' interactions with them (many) was bad. & by bad I mean, so many shades of being used as photo op tokens & nothing more
EXCLUSIVE on @gamedeveloper.bsky.social: not only has The Game Awards not nominated a Future Class for 2025, it's told alumni it "does not have any active programming plans" for the award.

The Future Class page was taken down sometime this year—eliminating a definitive archive of honorees.

I'm glad more about The Game Awards Future Class being totally shunned by Keighley is getting wider spread.

It's cowardly, embarrassing behavior and will make the inevitable "we do support the devs" monologue from Geoff more infuriating than usual.

At the level that The Game Awards currently stands at, it is an *active decision* not to support the Future Class, because they have the resources to do it. And that simple fact makes anything that Geoff Keighley says about honoring game devs at TGA into a lie. (2/5)
