UC phone operator says its backpayment from 2021, so... It's mine? That's nice.
Also, why has the DWP given me money? I've not been in receipt of UC or PIP for over a year. It might be back payment but I have to phone them because I haven't had a letter and there's nothing in the journal.

If it is actually money I get to keep, that's great.

I woke up this morning exhausted. It feels so physical, this heaviness, but I know it's cognitive.

Key words for PIP:

- Safely
- Reliably
- Repeatedly
- In a reasonable time
- At a reasonable speed
- More than half the days

This includes if it causes significant pain, or prevents you doing anything else after.

This seems interesting.
From Oct 4th to today, with not totally consistent daily practice, my ability to make out sentences in noisy environments with less stress (auditory processing issue) has improved. Thank you Eargym app.

Thanks, I deleted all my emails and went to look at birds instead.

You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who's coming to save you?

Crumbs, I ran out of episodes.
Just started watching The Apothecary Diaries, because we got netflix yesterday to watch something else, and I very much like the way the emotions of the main character are portrayed. Very relatable enthusiasm for her subject of interest.

Partner is buying a house, which is neat. Mortgage advisor has suggested life insurance for the both of us.

Unfortunately, my psychiatric history means that I cannot get life insurance.

Right, some of the stressful stuff has settled, so I just need to wait for my body to re-regulate. Supporting that process can be frustrating, because it takes so long.

In microbiology, a streak plate is used to isolate microbial colonies from a mixed population and enable individual species to grow and thrive. Can the same idea be applied to help individual students thrive in the classroom? This #JMBE offers insights: asm.social/2Gt

I had a lovely catch up chat with @jamesheathers.bsky.social at the weekend. I am thoroughly inspired by the work he and team are doing at the Medical Evidence Project. They act on tip offs for fraudulent and/or inaccurate science used to shape medical practice. Know any? medicalevidenceproject.org

#ActuallyAutistic
In a little over a week I'll be giving a talk on my experiences as a (formerly) undiagnosed autistic person in academia. I'm a little nervous about the "exposure", but hey, what could go wrong??

The plan is for there to be an online option as well as in-person.

Join Carleton Science and Dr. Heather Logan, Professor in the Department of Physics for the next ACE EDI event: Autistic in Academia. Neurodivergent people are already here: in your courses, labs, res...

I gotta say, changing primary supervisor and PhD project, helping my partner buy a house, and preparing for Christmas all in one go is testing my resilience (aka my current high baseline of wellbeing, how well I access support from those around me, and how much slack is there in my routines/tasks)

I wish I knew more about sensory needs and how it overlaps with things I can do.

It took literally 5 years to work out that my ability to understand & do things can be entirely flattened by the wrong sensory environment.

Eg, Can’t get dressed in a loud room. Can’t read if chair has wrong texture

The best neurodivergent inclusion can be kinda invisible.

It’s going somewhere and seamlessly being able to use my AAC.

It’s being given time to process options, or make a decision.

It’s spaces with careful lighting + noise design.

Solving little day to day barriers so everyone can thrive :)

I looooove @sonnyjane.bsky.social and their workbook, available on their website as a PDF as well

colorful without being condescending
big print but not huge
concrete but open ended at the same time

i love it, really strikes a unique balance for ND folx, I think

DBT can be amazing when done right
Thank you for kindly allowing me to vent about personal therapy workbook frustration, aslyn (@audhd-psychnp.com).

I bought the workbook you recommended and glancing through it, I see what you meant.

It helped having a 3rd party validate the legitimacy of my feelings.

It actually got picked up, at the beginning of the 1 hour collection window I was texted. Which was nice. But totally not worth it, so I'm not doing that again.
Collection only postage for this eBay parcel is setting my anxiety on fire today. I've been given a collection window. Does that mean anything? Who knows! I'm not the courier customer, eBay is! *screams into a pillow*

Research shows that watching footage of animals we find cute is relaxing.
Here’s one of the voles that lives under my garden steps (back in April). A cherry blossom petal falls on her head but she doesn’t notice because she’s so focussed on her snacks❤️👇🏼
