Crossing Connecticut Avenue, a grown man approached me. "Hey, this is extremely touristy, but..." he began as I prepared to give directions to the Lincoln Memorial. "Could you take my picture with one of these?" He proceeded to sit on top of a red Capital Bikeshare bike

It's the small things ❤️

Not sure if this has been shared here yet, but this is video of Rumeysa Ozturk's arrest posted by WCVB. It's terrifying.

Hi @mayorbowser.bsky.social, can DC residents and school employees count on your support against the federal government in moments like these?

This happened in Adams Morgan where about 50% of the students are Hispanic and/or Latino
More details: ICE goons were turned away at HD Cooke. They tried to seize the school nurse in the parking lot without a warrant, but backed off after staff intervened.

Why is DC, which has zero margin for error in the current political climate, spending public money on a disgraced former councilmember who resigned amidst corruption allegations?

Congressional Republicans want to gut DC's ability to function—in ways that no other state has to endure—and later will claim DC is a reckless dystopia
DC has been spending at FY25 levels for 6 months now. If the House GOP CR is approved as drafted, here’s what DC would have to cut:

- $63m from the police & firefighters retirement system
- $38m from fire & emergency management
- $23m from the Department of Corrections
- $75m from MPD

If you know Adams Morgan, you know rats. That's because there's a lot of food in the garbage

But I've got good news: DC's new food waste bins are out. And Adams Morgan has two! At Marie Reed and outside Harris Teeter
