NEW ARTICLE:

I wrote over 2,000 words on Carol & the End of the World and why I don't like it.

I talk about the genre of "the office is your home," the show's first world tunnel vision and I say the word "orgy" a lot. Excerpts below:

apropos of nothing, i think a polyamorous it/its transgender furry who commissions nsfw art of their sona getting railed by dogs is substantially less weird & socially maladapted than a certified normie who fingerwags about gooner porn addiction and believes kinks are a sign of moral degeneracy.

The Static comic had a gay kid shoot a nazi with a gun.

A big part of what made the original Static comics so good is that they weren't afraid to let Virgil suck. In his first major fight he gets beaten until he's fetal and crying right in front of his crush. He acts like a scornful little bitch when Frieda gets a boyfriend.

No one talks about what an enormous brain Dwayne McDuffie had that he decided to make Hotstreak a wigger neo-nazi who hit on a Jewish girl.

Hey remember this?

Since everyone's roasting the new DC trans superhero that was conveniently introduced after they fired a trans woman for insufficiently mourning a nazi, I invite you to read Ivan Velez Jr's Blood Syndicate and Maddie Blaustine's Deathwish.
Fade and Masquerade finding out each others' secrets is the kind of drama you're not gonna get if you just decide that these old characters will now be fully accepted and "normal."

I'm seeing people relitigating the failures of 2010s social justice stuff and while there was a lot from that era that sucked, I really don't think it mattered all too much compared to the opposition. People are trying to comfort themselves with the thought that they had more agency than they did.

At this point I don't want to see any posts about what people should do politically unless it's something they've specifically done themselves and are speaking from experience.

Don't tell me to buy a gun don't tell me to start a commune don't tell me to go on general strike. You are a poster.

We need a 30-year moratorium on the phrase "general strike."

The only reason I'd ever want to go to Vegas is CES. I want to put my greasy fingers on the gizmos and gadgets that I'll never buy.

It would be like a trip to Best Buy but bigger.

Was thinking about this yesterday, but I read Hajime no Ippo. It's not licensed in English so every week someone translates it for us. One time he was busy and couldn't do it that week. Nobody was available to do the JPN->ENG translation.

If you take this at face value you're the biggest mark in the world. Which apparently manga industry execs are.

If the "losses" put them at an $18 billion annual deficit but the industry is still massively profitable instead of a smoldering crater in the ground then it's clear the losses are fake.

In 2025 IP fully conquered the theme park
Preexisting IP has always been a part of the American theme park, but the scales have tipped fully in its favor.

A boomer take of mine is that you're doing some kind of public speaking, your notes have to be on paper. Reading off your phone/tablet looks raggedy.

The PS4 Pro can play 4K 60fps open world action video games but every single app chugs and crashes like it's a Gateway computer running Windows ME.
