Question: when has pandering to a far-right agenda ever ended well historically?

(Obviously rhetorical.)

Respect Alice Wong’s call here:
“When I am in public spaces and see most people unmasked either because they think the virus is a hoax, that masking is virtue signaling & a sign of weakness, aren't thinking about it, or that they simply don’t care, I feel like an expendable burden not worth saving.”
COVID Isn’t Going Anywhere. Masking Up Could Save My Life.

“She explained how much Covid could hurt her & how vulnerable it felt to be unable to wear a mask to protect herself.

She was a perfect example of why other people need to wear masks even if they don’t personally think Covid will hurt them”

If you want to honour Alice Wong’s memory, please mask up
Thank You Alice Wong

Also when anyone from public health says the word "panic" they mean the field-specific definition of "questioning whether public health is managing the situation competently".

You can pretty much swap that translation into any public health comms directly and it works.
The motive for sharing the information is to “avoid panic” by indicating that only the weak could possibly be affected and everyone else need not be at all concerned. But everyone who has had at least one Covid infection is immune dysregulated and deficient. 2/

Seem to remember some rumblings in Denmark on this theme some years back.
If the government really intends to seize jewellery and other valuables from refugees,
either
- it is staggeringly ignorant of the historical precedents
or
- it's aware of the precedents, and thinks, yeah, we'll have some of that.

Thinking about my first introductory call last Thursday and realising I have a lot of ideas already about how to help my client. Even if I can’t impose my own agenda on them for their growth, I can be ready with the right questions if the right moment arises for them. I’ve seen the power of this.

40 years later… And the thing is, we already have mountains of data NOW that show what COVID does to brains. Why can’t we acknowledge it? Why can’t we face it? Why can’t we say it?

Now imagine living in Sweden and this gaslighting continuing for over half a decade and counting while the architects of the Swedish death and chronic disease strategy win medals and accolades, cheered on by most of the public while people continue to die and become chronically ill. -> My life.
JFC, not only does this go hard on the bs "gain of function" and "lab leak" claims, it also claims that Sweden did the best of anyone during the pandemic, despite it's mortality rate being 4-10 times higher than those of other Nordic countries over the same period of time.

I keep hearing people ask,
so if you are truly wondering
what the secret
of people
who rarely get sick is,
I shall tell you:
the secret is not
to ask yourself
what you should do
to protect yourself,
no, the secret is
to ask yourself
what you should do
to protect everyone.

Completely agree. Although at the very least it’s good that Paris hasn’t outlawed masks altogether - which Sweden did from the very beginning of the ongoing pandemic, with officials stating ”wearing masks isn’t in our culture” (referring mainly to the public but that soon spread to healthcare too).
Omfg why can infection control not get their 🤬 clown car in order and do their 🤬 jobs and tell people that for an aerosol hazard you need aerosol PPE?

Seriously, wtf is wrong with medicine that it tolerates this constant amateur-hour incompetence? We know this is killing people!

"Do no harm"?

🤬🤡
France: "Wearing a mask is once again mandatory in Paris hospitals"

"Faced with a rapid rise in respiratory infections, several hospitals in the Île-de-France region have decided to reinstate mandatory mask-wearing for healthcare workers, visitors, and patients over the age of 6."

to attend her lecture
on applied ethics
and as I sat in the audience
waiting for it to begin
a man sat down nearby
and asked me why
I was wearing a mask,
and before I could stop myself
I told him:
“I’m applying ethics.”
