If only we had, for example, wastewater data to see whether those “covid times” are indeed in the past. If only journalists could be arsed to do basic research. Alas,

if, after learning how LLMs work you seriously think they are sapient or alive in any meaningful way you either
a) Aren't very bright and should keep hitting the books,
b) Malicious, and shouldn't be left in charge of anything, or
c) Lack qualia, and are an irl philosophical zombie

The only response here is a motion to enjoin the whole operation

If the government's position is "I'm sorry your honor but we don't be the capacity to both respect constitutional rights and conduct the operation as it is currently being conducted" the answer is "then you must stop the operation"

I really hate how in Blender 5.0 color selection reverts if you click away. Does anyone know how to get the old behavior? Because it's driving me insane

The way LLMs being a vector embedding of language creates similarities between that vector space and Plato's world of forms. Do you think Plato would have developed full on AI psychosis trying to get access to what he perceived to be the "real" world?

Thinking about how there are probably only a few thousand especially terrible people in the US who, if they died, would leave the world a much better place. While some are fairly obvious, manifesting those deaths without opportunists stepping in is literally a Reign of Terror shaped problem.

Felt like making something with a moderate amount of complexity today, so I picked a fire hydrant. Has some seams and other small issues I need to fix, but it's alright for a days work.

Imagine being this contemptuous of the idea of art.

Like to hold this view you need to be cowardly, intellectually incurious, and dismissive of the idea of art in the abstract.

Or just some asshole desperate for attention posting contrarian bullshit knowing the dunks will raise your profile.
Horses shows "abuse, gory imagery (mutilation, blood), depictions of slavery, physical and psychological torture, domestic abuse, sexual assault, suicide"

It also implies someone is r*ped until they die. It's implied someone comitts necrophillia on the corpse.

Why are we mad about this ban?

Hey folks. Here's one of the animations I did showing an O'Neill Colony - basically a hollowed out cylinder in space. This one is 35km long and 9km across and spins once per minute (if I remember) to provide 1g gravity.

Please repost! Spread the love!

Work in progress, but I've been making a full scale O'Neill cylinder in Blender! This thing is 32 km long and 8 km in diameter. I decided to make the buildings fun shapes, just because.

Was thinking about how you'd replace a pane of glass in an O'Neill cylinder, and it occurred to me the window sections would likely need gantry cranes for that purpose. ~4km wide gantry cranes... Silly.

AI increasingly makes me feel that digital necromancy of any kind should be illegal. Not felony illegal, but like, stiff fine and you're not allowed to sell that anymore illegal. Not sure that this is a good take though.

There's WorldBuilding (the hobby), and then there's world building (an aspect of writing). Do not confuse these or will either never finish writing your story or spend an inordinate amount of time angry at writers for not having accurate plate tectonics or whatever.

I wonder how hard it would be for malware to activate the new Windows 11 "agentic" features then use them for further mayhem... Probably not hard enough to keep it from being a major security vulnerability even when disabled.
