Toast I butter up my toasted bread, and then I think, What kind of spread for breakfast do I most deserve? Perhaps this strawberry preserve? Or would that feel like throwing shade on thick-cut orange marmalade? When younger I had often whacked on thick black globs of yeast extract. Now I preferred a sweeter topping, like peanut, chocolate, there’s no stopping me when I get so engrossed about things I can put on toast. And then to me this thought occurred: How long since I’ve had lemon curd? Wait, wait! I want...no, I’ve not got any more apricot compote. (I do have honey, by the way, but I don’t much fancy that today.) It might be truer to who I am to select some seedless raspberry jam. Oh forget it, I’m done with all this clutter, I’ll simply have my toast with butter!

Everyone in the family gets at least one book as a gift. We try to read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas as a family on Christmas Eve, and there’s usually a good amount of reading of the Grinch tho I’m now realizing I have not yet read it this year and I def have to rectify that! #KidLitChat

Heidi and Joe F. have a Little Free Library on the iconic “Miracle on 34th Street” Christmas Block in Baltimore. Both are teachers and use their holiday decor to raise awareness for literacy at the holidays. Their library distributed 900 children’s books into the community last holiday season.

He brings cookies for National cookie day and a card for Christmas card day, only to have the door slammed in his face. He phones on Ding-a-ling day, and Humbug picks up but doesn’t speak. Humbug finds an ugly sweater on his doorstep on Ugly Sweater day. Finally, Humbug knocks on the beetle’s door on December 21st and invites him to his National Humbug Day party. They sit quietly, Humbug wearing the ugly sweater and his usual grumpy face, while the beetle smiles contentedly.
