~ There's a Fire in My Belly by Joseph Little (8 y/o, Issue 7: Fire) ~

There's a fire in my belly and I don't know what to do,
I could sneeze it out,
Blow it out?
There's a fire in my belly
Oh what do I do?
Maybe calm down and cuddle
Right next to you.

Started reading The Nine Moons of Han Yu and Luli last night (bc my teen said I should) and I’m really enjoying the writing style. I had thought maybe it was too heavy for my 9yo but the fairy-tale like style and the illustrations make it really approachable. (12yo says no thanks to the rec) #KidLit

Drafting an “ode to inchworms” for @melruthwrites.bsky.social to use at her upcoming literacy night. I’m not adept at odes, and don’t often write for kids, but I have fond memories of watching the inchworms crawl on our tent the last time we camped as a family before I was too sick. #AmWriting

Yes! We want to hear from kids, want them to know their voices and ideas matter!

Imagine a character in a scary situation. Maybe they are scared of the dark. Maybe they are scared of a dragon. It can be realistic or fantasy. Who do they trust to come help them? How does this person help them?

Sunday question for ELA folks: what is the best page/passage of literature you've brought into the classroom from a book this year? Why?

(Bonus points for a pic of the actual page 😎)
Also: it's quite fun to think of which passages you would bring to this hypothetical "PD opportunity," right?
