The Big Green really holds up. Good sportsmanship. David vs Goliath. Small community banding together. Rural poor/industrial small town hardship. Illegal Immigrants being supported by local Sheriff/Assistant Coach (who is also Mahoney from Police Academy). Kids love it. I love it. Worth a rewatch.

Don't use AI for church things: it's too dumb!
It's amazing how wrong the latest Episcopal AI Bot is when it comes to simple questions. It isn't just an ethically poor substitute for human learning; it's dubious how any of this grant money was actually used in thoughtful manner. ⚓

Having made several northern excursions from Longview, this sign has remained unchanged for the past several years due to the last living member of the family dying. What a joy to see it express a simple message based in reality for once.

With the work of several colleagues including my co-submitters @josephpmathews.bsky.social and Sabeth, we brought forward a resolution against the use of LLMs (like chatgpt) in the work of writing sermons, prayers, liturgies, and in offering pastoral care.
This was referred to our council for ongoing consideration through the coming year 📕 ecww.org/wp-content/u...

I love this. We should push people a little out of their comfort zones to engage in the intersection of the church and the world.

CHATGPT: I understand where you're coming from. You worked really hard to get here, and now it's time to enjoy the fruit of your labors.

ISILDUR: So I should keep it? Elrond says I shouldn't

CHATGPT: The ring is precious. Sometimes friends don't have your best interests at heart.

The US getting completely blown out on home turf in the Ryder Cup just goes to show that Trump's stench follows him everywhere and nothing can survive its association.

Frankly, it is disturbing that the Episcopal church is supporting and platforming an AI Chatbot. Everything it purportedly "knows" can easily be found elsewhere (and without the mistakes) and the very real human cost in using this technology should cause great pause rather than rushed acceptance.
I'm pleased to announce that EpiscoBot now knows the lectionary (RCL and Daily Office) Thanks to @gbj.dev for providing the data and encouragement. I'm also prototyping a new interface, which you can try here ecclesia.ai/episcobot/

Everyone desperately searching for a third place that is safe and welcoming and it's right there desperately wanting you to walk in the doors: your friendly neighborhood Episcopal Church. Belief in God/Jesus/Holy Spirit not required to attend, we all start our faith journey somewhere!
Hot take: On the whole, church was actually good for American society and social connections.

We are a broken people living in a broken society when we allow a "school shooting industry" to flourish because we refuse to do the common sense steps of real, effective gun control measures.
