The Strengthen Washington Homes Act is one step closer to becoming law! The Senate just passed Senate Bill 6079 to create a pilot grant program to help folks retrofit their homes to better resist wildfires & reduce nonrenewal and cancellations of homeowners insurance policies due to wildfire risk.

Wildfire risk score disclosure is one step closer to becoming law! The Senate just passed Senate Bill 5928 to increase transparency around insurers’ wildfire risk scoring. This is one of two request bills to address increasing nonrenewals and cancellations of homeowners policies across Washington.

“When I went around the state talking to folks, this was an issue that I heard about from people who had an insurer for, sometimes decades, and would all of a sudden out of the blue receive a nonrenewal notice,” Kuderer said in an interview Monday.
