Understandably over the moon that the incredible Chris Packham agreed to not only open the National Emergency Briefing, but also to do a series of high profile interviews about the initiative 👊🔥💚
I’ve just announced I’ll be leading a National Emergency Briefing on 27 November . At a time when climate is in free fall on the political agenda , it’s vital our leaders realise what is at stake if we do not accelerate a just , green transition for all .

Really powerful research here showing just how much the facts around netzero have been distorted….
British public vastly overestimates cost of getting to net zero - by a staggering 14,000%.

On average, they estimate it will need 28% of GDP by 2050, compared to just 0.2%.

We need a National Emergency Briefing❗️

The solutions for stopping global heating will also make us better off, but that’s seriously under-reported, amid a torrent of misinformation.

So we hope all MPs will attend the National Emergency Briefing on the interconnected climate & nature crisis on Thur 27th Nov.

The Gov said above 1.5°C we could "lose control of our climate for good". But @thecccuk.bsky.social now warns that we should prepare for at least 2°C by 2050.

Such a shift in just 4 years.

This is why more and more MPs are signing up to attend the National Emergency Briefing www.nebriefing.org

CO2 is a cumulative problem, so if you are in the unenviable position of making policy to solve it, you need to briefed on the latest science…
Net zero by 2050 to limit warming to 1.5°C. That may have been plausible 10 years ago, but the continued rise of emissions means that there is effectively no carbon budget left for 1.5. It is cumulative emissions that drives warming. 1/6 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

We urgently need honesty on the climate crisis.

Military emissions are excluded from national emissions figures. Yes, we simply pretend they don't exist.

That means there's little pressure to reduce them.
This has to change.

Shocker, research shows the average estimate of the cost of net zero is 28% of GDP‼️
It's £320bn in total, sounds a lot but it's only 0.2% of GDP. Which is about £1.30 per person, per week!
