Mill workers were hugely important in the push to get women the vote. Although wages were low they, wielded economic power and were well organised.

They often, unfairly, get overlooked in the popular narrative where the quest for the vote gets cast as a purely middle or upper class movement.
This has to be one of of the most iconic photographs of the 20th century from March 1907. Sixteen years old suffragette Dora Thewlis. A poor mill worker from Honley in Huddersfield she was a member of the Women's Social and Political Union At a demonstration in London she is

The Guardian are reporting a significant increase in Jewish people voting for the Green Party.

It's almost like many of us grew up learning a history of persecution & violence.

We don't oppose the Genocide in spite of being Jewish but because of it.

Never again for everyone.

YouGov polling for @bestforbritain.org shows that most people intending or considering a vote for Reform are in favour of a wealth tax - which is Green Party policy

Nigel Farage & Richard Tice are, of course, vehemently opposed to taxing the ultra-rich whose interests they represent.

He is SO full of it.

To make work optional, you would need universal basic income (UBI) - and I cannot see Musk championing such a policy.
This is an...interesting...economic theory:

"...the only way...to prevent America from going bankrupt is AI and robotics...

Robots like Optimus will make working "optional" in the future...

We'll have...universal high income," Musk said.

Elon Musk has spent the last few weeks outlining a future with Optimus — one that will "eliminate" poverty, work, and require a universal income.

After another week of banging on about immigration, Keir Starmer's ratings fall to their lowest ever level.

At what point do Labour strategists start to think that maybe this isn't quite the winning strategy they believed?

And you also don’t understand what AI is capable of.

Farage and Reform bought into the lie they had majority support in the country, they never did, they were the most vocal. Large turnout and tactical voting will defeat Reform just like it has in Caerphilly.

I always keep an eye on new Parliamentary petitions, and think this one is worth supporting.

It makes sense to give more migrants a say in the democratic process when their continued existence in this country is under threat from politicians in Reform, the Conservatives and Labour.
Petition: Allow people with Indefinite Leave to Remain to vote in parliamentary elections
Extend voting in UK parliamentary elections to include those who have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).

Enoch Powell was sacked *in a heartbeat* by the Leader of the Conservative Party for being overtly racist. That was the right response. Today the Conservative party is embracing policies more extreme than Powell.

We do not have to understand this. We have to oppose it.
To win arguments we need to understand the basis on which our opponents are gaining ground. As a rough rule of thumb shouting ‘FFS’ voters as a relatively useless strategy.

We sit at the end of a decades-long process, partly structural but also partly very deliberate, of the breaking-down of shared norms of informational awareness and trust that could maintain a patchy but workable distinction between news, propaganda, and advertising.
It’s also the case that many time normies do not know about this thing!

Local media is hollowed out! Many people are fundamentally disengaged!
"normies do not care about this thing and so it is no use raising a stink" is imho just an excuse for not doing politics, which is the job of making normies care about something

See, the thing is, I've met Kwasi Kwarteng. Had a conversation that went on a while. I know he's a prat.

But the rest of the country ought to have figured that out when he was the lead man on the most disastrous economic policy decision of the modern era.
Sorry @theipaper.com but WHY is this guy talking to us about what will make the UK poorer? He was happy to grenade our economy twice…
Brexit and then his batshit budget with Truss.
He should be in political oblivion for the mess he made and the price we all have to pay for his party’s failures.
