We wish the very best for their future to President Michael D Higgins and Sabina Higgins as they leave the Áras for the last time. President Higgins opened the doors of Áras an Uachtaráin to us, to many of the brilliant Palestinian speakers, artists, lawyers and activists that came here to advocate

In Michael D Higgins we have been lucky to have a President for the last 14 years who not only had such a keen appreciation of history but in labour history, not least during the decade of centenaries. It’s easy to take it for granted now but I always thought how easily that might not have been so.

Is repeatedly alluding to one’s “personal integrity” a lack of self awareness or a blunt attempt at NLP?

Missed The Ivy latest. Turns out the tipping out system means managers are getting tips but not kitchen staff. So the people who do the roster get tip money but not the KP.

Restaurant documents shows tens of thousands of euro in tips for wait staff but kitchen workers see only a fraction of that

Was thinking the other day Dublin seemed to have nearly finished its new hotel spree but in the last two days I’ve seen planning for two more. Yes, they want to turn Pablo Picante into a hotel

My mum just said to me "You should be hung like a horse". When I challenged her over saying such a thing, it transpires she thought it was a punishment horses got. Turns out she's been incorrectly using the phrase since the 90s in various settings

Without casting any obvious aspersions on that the Progress outfit the last two times I had to use Stripe it got large transactions it didn’t work and I had to spend an hour in the bank did one and go into town to the shop for the other. So *my* suggestion would be make your shit work better.

Dunno if sharing photos of the violent threats and hatred on spoiled votes and thereby giving those gowls the audience and coverage they want their otherwise mainly unseen messages to get is great tbh

Not sure if I’ve seen it reported that there were active spoil canvases in Dublin Central and North West, at least, by anti-immigrant reps and parties. Seems worth noting

I am asking people if they honestly think it is reasonable or good to share a video of a kid being harassed. Just delete it

That Indo headline is still there. There’s also a story about a TD having their consistency office vandalised although unlike RTÉ, it didn’t managed to illustrate it or outline the nature of the vandalism

British activists from the flotilla like two weeks ago and Starmer was like: it’s a matter for Israel but there’s been an emergency parliamentary meeting to discuss football hooligans from another country and how we welcome them

Was in Rome a few years ago, went to the Sistine Chapel - As I was on the stairs out of the chapel some American shuffling out ahead of me - realising the stairs was the exit - yelled, in sincere disbelief and outrage "Was that it?! One room?" and began discussing getting their money back.
