and frankly here a lot of artists are generally more willing to help you make those connections to get commissions, engagement, whatever you need to survive in the field, with nice little starter packs and advice. its just a generally better vibe with the added bonus of no "AI slop this art" button

i think the big hurdle for a lot of artists making the move from twt to here is perceiving less likes as less human engagement. but actually the opposite is true: you're more likely to get human reception here than on [the corpse of] twitter, because the high amount of bots = artificial likes
