SEATTLE!!!
We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

i get that a general strike is hard in the US when we depend on our employers for so much, but i wonder how much we can just... boycott the economy. essentials/second hand/barter only. is that a thing?

This bill doesn’t address the core issue that millions of Americans will no longer be able to afford ACA insurance coverage next year. I’m willing to work with anyone to create a path forward but this isn’t it.

I... don't have an FSA. I'm self-employed. So this will help how, exactly?
"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

i remain woefully underemployed and the state of things is, uh, yeah, but i've been eating a lot of home made food with friends and 15/10, recommended HIGHLY, good for what ails you.

The combo of walled-garden social media and AI replacing search means the death of the useful/open/free internet. Why would anyone create anything when it will just be summarized by AI and no one will ever see it? When social media deprecates outbound links, how will anyone find original content?

One of my first jobs in tech was as a fact checker; had to verify info with three separate, independent sources, and that seems so quaint today when the robots just make shit up and we take it at face value.

my divorce taught me some hard lessons about cutting my losses -- i can't stop thinking about how tech just won't do that with AI. it sucked. it was painful. there was zero value in clinging to some other forced outcome that was not going to happen, ever.
The billionaire class is in the throes of a large scale sunk cost fallacy.
so it steals, makes shit up, pollutes like crazy, kills people, AND loses money like crazy.
let's use it to replace workers, force it on students, and pretend it's the next great breakthrough in tech. makes sense.

With another 56,000 votes counted in the Seattle mayor's race, Katie Wilson has narrowed the gap with incumbent Bruce Harrell to just 4,300 votes, and received just under 55 percent of the vote in the latest count, with perhaps 50,000 votes remaining to be counted. That's a solid turnaround.
