Another gem from the Juice Media, always worth a watch!
Friends, can I ask a favour.

Our latest Honest Government out is a serious warning to Canada from Australia, which acts as a cautionary tail about the harms of the gas (LNG) export industry... Hence the cameo (spoiler alert) from our own aussie climate criminals, Woodside Energy

A really good video of how demining in Ukraine's fields around Kherson really does make a difference. These guys are all volunteers and are supported from overseas.

There's so much depravity in this world, and then there's this...
🤬 The commander of one of the sapper units of the Russian army tells how he planted explosives in books and toys intended for Ukrainian children.

"For a sapper, the main thing is imagination. You can mine anything: books, toys."

Just watched The Thin Red Line after many years of not seeing it again. It's not for the feint hearted. Filmed in Queensland and the Solomon's. It's a brutal portrayal of war, but I think it's been highly underrated as a film, probably Saving Private Ryan coming out in the same year didn't help.

🧵 This piece captures a core problem of the hollow democratic state: politics has become performance, optimised for visibility, not understanding.
Farage is winning because politics has been reduced to clickbait.

It’s a shallow spectacle that favours clowns and con-artists.

As @jemmaforte.bsky.social says here - politics has been “repackaged into junk food.”

But there are ways for the left to fight back 👇🏻

This is quite a long article, but worth the read on how social media and algorithm's try to rule over us.

I tried to outsmart the social media algorithm. Here's how it outsmarted me
Armed with a burner phone and a fake name, I set out to learn how Instagram’s algorithm really works. This is what happened next.

These dogs were spotted taking a group photo in their Halloween costumes. We're impressed by the dog walker's dedication to getting the shot, but that ghost definitely wishes he could actually disappear. 14/10 for all (TT: franklinbarkzoo)

An excellent thread from Meredith Whittaker on the recent AWS outage.
📣THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms).

It’s also concerning. 1/
PSA: we're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by.
