Mulan! 🗡️

Here’s some Mulan drawings from today’s gesture class! Some really good ones here, and it was fun to learn from Todd Bright who was a clean-up artist on the movie!

Little Shop of Horrors

- Accessible! Small cast makes it easy to produce anywhere
- Score is Oops! All bangers
- Tightly written Faustian tale isn't overly long
- Funny!
- Easily accessed queer readings (Audrey and Seymour are T4T)
- Story is about how capitalism is bad and morally compromises you
what is the best musical of all time and please explain yourself so i know whether or not to be angry at you

The people at WDAS and PIXAR have every right to beat up Bob Iger, DK Bananza style.

A sketch of Mario and Luma I did a few minutes before the Direct.

My post-Direct trailer reaction:

There’s some stuff I did like with the first half of mini-Bowser trying to impress the Bros with his paintings, which would be perfect for a more character-driven sequel, but I still think going for ‘Galaxy’ immediately is a dumb choice.

#NintendoDirect
Knowing the sequel to the Mario movie is immediately going to Super Mario Galaxy, I fear it’s going to have similar story problems like the first movie where everything is like a fast road trip without proper stops. I want more character moments, dammit!

I finally saw “Little Amélie or the Character of Rain” this afternoon, and it is a beautiful movie and certainly one of my favorites of the year.

It’s honestly really nice to see these types of animated films in the theater I go to, because a decade ago this would’ve been impossible.

This week’s winning prompt topic is “Chefs n Cooks”, and we’re starting off strong with the “little chef”, Remy from Ratatouille.

Man, watching the new “Knives Out” movie when it comes out is gonna feel weird.

Okay but seriously, anyone with power who unironically threatens to use ICE on someone should probably be put on a list.

hey if yall get a message or reply like this, this is fake
this is not actual bsky, most likely someone trying to scam or hack accounts
they appear currently to only be targeting artist accounts

Another reminder that not everyone needs to draw or animate the same way folks like Richard Williams did. He’s great but these designs and the comedic antics are still as charming and as fun with their more frantic energy.

I truly can't stress this enough: No one's art is good enough to justify them being miserable to work with. Almost everyone I've worked with has been wonderful, but the handful of folks that weren't brought the whole team down by being egotistical, sexist, condescending, etc.

Halloween isn't just great because of the spooky vibes its special because, sadly, many people feel like they need an excuse to do something creative, make art, or use crafting supplies and Halloween gives them that.

You ever get that feeling that Halloween isn’t actually over and you’re still enjoying the vibes of it?

I’m in that mood right now tbh.

The Scare-Off! 🎃🧛🏻

I had a lot of fun doing this collab piece with John Dixon (johndarts9 on Insta). It was part of an ‘collaboration intensive’ John Pomeroy hosted which was fun.

I saw someone call Ai a Thneed and I can't stop thinking about it. It's a PERFECT analogy. The Thneed was an all-purpose tool that didn't do anything really useful. It was a fad that did major damage to the environment to make the Onceler a billionare. It left no real lasting impact, only damage.

It's been turned on by default.

Go to your Drive, click the gear icon, click settings, go to "manage apps" and uncheck that nasty "use by default" box.
