Okay, listen, for the US folks, Section 230 is what makes the internet the interne; a landmark legislation that allowed freedom to say and host what we want. If 230 is gone, how else am I suppose to tell large companies to go fuck themselves? Call your reps, scripts in the video.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt made a 12-minute response video to people mad at him supporting mass surveillance and censorship, and somehow got even MORE wrong about Section 230 than his original congressional testimony.

Section 230 is instrumental in allowing the internet to exist as it does now. If it gets repealed, you can expect the internet to essentially shutdown

Call your reps and demand they oppose its repeal
at times i feel like yelling at ppl to call ur reps is pointless, nobody cares, and the only way to get ppl to listen is to morph into mr beast or jake paul. but im not even sure they would exist w/o section 230. u wouldnt have social media or messaging w/o it.

so i called my reps and u should too

Please call your reps now with something like 5calls and speak out against repealling Section 230.

Whether or not they listen is up to them, but you can raise hell about this right now.

Reminder that they're still trying to repeal section 230 (thereby making platform holders like bsky legally responsible for content posted by their users etc etc)

There is still a need for you to blow up your rep's phones on this if you enjoy being able to do things like "post" or "have an porn"

Section 230 is what protects free speech on the internet. If it is repealed you can forget about all US hosted social media platforms and forums.

It would be like when Tumblr got rid of adult content but for EVERYTHING, every legally or politically complex subject would be censored.

KOSA which I just learnt would only apply to mass censor social media, but leaves AI untouched

Any tech policy backed & lobbied by big tech itself is not good for us

You're the voter. Demand better.

This is still blowing up. BTW, you should be calling your fucking representatives and tell them that repealing Section 230 will destroy the internet as we know it. Dick Durbin should have fucking retired over 10 years ago.

Remember to call your elected representatives and tell them to oppose and say no to KOSA and all the bad internet bills, say NO to the repeal of section 230, and say NO to the SAVE Act which is a poll tax and mass voter suppression and blatantly unconstitutional
Senator Amy Klobuchar supports creators and says the laws around social media platforms need updating, including changes to Section 230. Do you agree?

P.S. Your political alignment matters not in this subject. Left, Right, center? All of you are in danger. You can go ahead and blame each other for these bills, but the truth is, it endangers all. Side or not.

Now, get to calling your lawmakers.

Also, vote out the ones who support #KOSA and the repeal of #Section230 this primary election! We want better candidates who will listen to tech experts like @fightforthefuture.org and are NOT willing to sacrifice our digital rights to the extremist right and complete Project 2025. #SaveSpeech
Everything we hope to accomplish after we retake Congress in 2027 and after we retake the White House in 2029 will be determined by what kind of Democrats we select this year in primaries.

Primaries are how we build a Democratic Party that can govern and deliver.

It seems pretty pretty bad that after all the times people have explained Section 230 to @amyklobuchar.com she still doesn't understand how it works, what it does, or what damage her "reforms" would do to speech online, especially speech from marginalized people.

we're organizing an open letter to joseph gordon-levitt, urging him to reverse his stance on Section 230 and publicly cut ties with NCOSE (morality in media) and similar groups. like or reskeet if you'd wanna sign

KOSA is a security and privacy risk which will force adults to hand over sensitive information to Big Tech companies in order to verify their age. This will be exploited by the administration to surveil and have citizens detained for arbitrary reasons, especially if they are left leaning.
