Uber is one of the most destructive companies in modern American history. It clogs roads with empty cars, pioneers new forms of labor abuses that it enacts into law with deceptive ballot measures, and makes a small group of people wealthy by promising returns that will never happen.

This is so messed up.
Companies are using AI as plausible deniability to create a thin layer of "it wasn't us the computer did it" for any scam they want to pull.
The AI book list and general enshittification reminded me that I've been credited as blurbing hundreds of books I never have, including books by Patti Smith, Amy Tan, Sidney Sheldon, Joyce Maynard, and Elmore Leonard? And I can't get these fake blurbs taken off publisher and bookstore websites?

At some point we have to actually start holding white voters accountable for their choices.

They have so wholly rendered undocumented workers as invisible and devoid of personhood that those folks read less as migrants than as rented livestock.

And they don't expect the state to impede their ability to access that servant stock and its services.

And here when I say "servants" I mean the invisible workers who maintain their lifestyles.

They don't expect to have their farm or their manicure or their morning coffee disrupted.

They don't expect the landscaping or the hotel room to go untended.

I think it's more that they didn't expect people to deport THEIR servants
The thing I don’t understand is everybody in America knows or engages with undocumented people almost every day so how could they think every single one of them is a criminal rapist drug dealing gang member?
I’m not buying it. They knew.

Nah. There was enough information. It was being screamed from the roof tops. Trump and co denied it was their plan. They took them at face value.

You make stupid choices you get stupid consequences and I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for these fucks whilst my TRANS BRETHREN ARE DISAPPEARED BY ICE
i really, really need people to understand that they *didn't* vote for this, no matter how much you insist they did. insisting "they voted for this" elides the information environment that led them to vote the way they did in the first place, the thing that actually needs fixing.

Think There’s Nothing You Can Do to Stop ICE? Think Again.
Chicago’s years of organizing against immigration raids are a blueprint for real resistance to Trump’s attacks—as even his top goons acknowledge.

Joni Ernst fucked up, if we exploit the opportunity:

"This is the sort of thing that breaks through to people who don't follow politics. Share the town hall video, share the cemetery video with people in your networks and ask them to call both of their Senators"

I’m convinced that part of why covid broke so many brains is that a bunch of middle & upper class white people were smacked in the face with the reality that covid doesn’t care about privilege and so they found *themselves* among the “collateral damage“ which they believed wasn’t supposed to happen
And I wonder if we have ever considered how dehumanizing it is to consider other human beings as nothing more than collateral damage for the way the world works, especially when the world only works this way because we decided that it does.

"We can't do anything about that" is a choice, not a fact.

Every Democratic candidate in 2028 should have publicly available, step-by-step plans for dismantling DOGE, abolishing ICE, reversing ALL of the Trump executive orders, and punishing ALL Americans who participated in the Gaza genocide.

None of them will.
I think every Democratic candidate for president in 2028 should be asked: "will your Attorney General, once confirmed, investigate any potential charges against US citizens in the IDF for their acts in the Gaza genocide and support all appropriate charges under 18 USC 2441?"

Sorry but if you can be "duped" into voting for this you shouldn't be allowed to make decisions for the rest of the country. Just no. You saw J6. You were here during covid. If you needed to be convinced to not vote for Trump in 2024 after his 2016-2020 stint then I don't know man
These people were following the law and went to check in with immigration like they are supposed to.

This woman's immigration case was dismissed, which made her immediately undocumented.

So ICE took her into custody.

The air conditioning was off in the back of the truck.
