although his name doesn’t appear anywhere in them, the spirit of kid rock permeates the epstein files

It is with the utmost smuggitude that I say lol and also lmao
ICE agents are whining and saying they are not getting their pay, healthcare insurance and the $50,000 sign on bonus they were promised.

I love this for them!

Going through life with a sense of childlike wonder sounds really nice until you remember there are many reasons why we don't let children vote.

I think often a healthy agnosticism is necessary for survival. If I felt certain that there was a better world waiting for me, I would leave this one immediately.

they're trying to be coy about salivating over the prospect of raping women, they'll contest that but if pushed to explain, that's exactly what they would describe. forced pregnancy of any kind, by a man or by the state, is gender-based violence

These are my social media apps. I have given them my own nicknames. I call this one my Divorced Friends Feed. This one is Hope Killer. And this one I like to call The Eternal Scream. Hm? Oh, that one I called Scum Hive. I deleted it. No, I don't feel any better about myself, why?

i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.
A lot of people cannot just start a paid newsletter or become freelancers to sustain their careers. The sports, metro, and international desks did work that requires *team* resources, like legal checks, documents, access to archives, and long-term beat experience.

I hate to be a party pooper but I'm afraid it's still gonna be a long, long time before It Happens. A lot of y'all must be young and not lost a grandparent yet, and have no idea how long someone at death's door can just linger and suffer and drag it on and on. Especially with great health care.

Man if the material you're churning out is too much for the French, it must be REALLY nasty. All of their most revered art is about falling in love with a 12-year-old girl and sneaking her away from her parents long enough for a secret wedding ceremony on the banks of the Siene.
“French cybercrime authorities searched the offices of Elon Musk's X in Paris on Tuesday as they investigate the company on suspicion of illegal harvesting of data and complicity in the possession or distribution of child pornography.”

Y’all should stop running candidates who can, according to you, be absolutely torpedoed by an unkind word from Susan Sarandon
One thing many people refuse to understand is that voting for Kamala Harris doesn’t excuse you for telling everyone she sucks and convincing others not to vote for her

Watching aggrieved liberals becoming as authoritarian, if not more so, than all the countries they accuse of such really has been a lesson in mass projection.

They won big twice running on Hope & Change and then decided "Well fuck that forever" and now the only time we ever hear from Obama is when it's time to ratfuck a progressive candidate and remind us all that better things aren't possible.

I really can't tell you kids how much fun it was, being a cishet white suburban teenager in the 90s. Nothing mattered, but in a good way, not in the sad way that nothing matters now. No 9/11, no WMD's, no Columbine until the very end. Ska-punk! AOL! Goldeneye64! It was like living in Disneyland!

If it makes you feel any better, I voted for Obama twice. I'd have voted for him a third time, if I could have.

Looking back on it, I'm actually less ashamed than I used to be. True, I'm no longer a Dave Barry fan, but he's a pretty appropriate choice to ring in this clown-ass century. Also I've always lived in Texas, so my vote has never mattered and will never matter. My feeling about it now is "Oh well."
February 2, 2026 at 10:45 PM
If you said "Dave Barry," you are correct. I wrote him in.

1. I thought it was funny.
2. All proceeds from his fake presidential campaign went to charity.
3. Did I mention I thought it was funny?

You could hardly ask for a more "sheltered suburban white boy's first time voting"-ass vote.

You want to know how dumb young people are? OK, here's a deep, dark secret of mine. The first Presidential election I could vote in was 2000. I was 21. George W. Bush was the Republican candidate. Al Gore was the Democrat. Ralph Nader was Green, Harry Browne was Libertarian. Guess who I voted for.
