Sharing space with other Black women, the vulnerability of the conversations, the vulnerability of showing up in need of care, the vulnerability of your appointment time sometimes being the only time someone does something for you - I saw so much magic in the salon as a kid/young woman.
I don’t necessarily miss being in the hair salon all day but I miss the sisterhood of being in a hair salon all day if that makes sense.
That was one of the few times as a kid you could listen to adult business. And then as you became an adult, the advice would be delightful.
I miss those days.
