Last chance to call these Senators -- vote is expected in two hours #FreeDC
Every right we have exists because people refused to stay quiet.

This week, the Senate decides whether D.C. gets respect, or more interference.

📞 Call your Senators 202-224-3121. Tell them to reject the disapproval resolution.

Democracy grows when we fight for it.

Yesterday @freedcproject.bsky.social went to Murkowski's office. Her comms director lied and said he was a policy guy, then told us no one who knows anything could meet with us. Then the scheduler came out, refused to take us seriously, accused us of being aggressive and called the cops on us +
McConnell (and JD Vance’s) absence today means that we need *3 GOP senators* to join all 47 Senate Dems in voting against (or present) the disapproval resolution (H.J. Res. 142) nullifying DC’s tax legislation when it comes up for a vote today (~4:30pm)! Collins + Murkowski + ?
McConnell released from hospital and feeling better but will be working from home this week. Means Senate Rs will need to find an additional Dem vote for a funding bill

Spox: “Senator McConnell was discharged from the hospital yesterday and is grateful for the outstanding care he received"

At least 4 homeless folks froze to death in DC during the recent winter storm.

In the capital of the richest country in the world.

Where we're spending $1.65 million a day to pay for the Nat'l guard to do nothing.

It does not have to be this way.

The bill in the Senate this week that will attempt to interfere in DC's tax code is chaotic, bad, and should get voted down — but don't take our word for it.

Here's a running thread of the people and organizations who want Senators to VOTE NO on S.J. Res102: 🧵

Tomorrow the Senate is expected to vote on a bill aimed at interfering in DC's local tax code.

This move would thrust DC into financial chaos, hurting families and helping an administration that we know thrives on confusion and fear.

An interesting fact: D.C. has already received 18,000 individual tax returns and 300 corporate returns. The Republican resolution repealing the city's tax law passed the House today, and if it passes the Senate and is signed by the president, many of those returns will have to be redone.
A Republican-led resolution could trigger tax season chaos, potentially pushing D.C.'s filing deadlines into the fall, depriving the city of almost $700 million in revenue, and eliminating tax credits for low-income residents. 51st.news/republican-b...

It’s the second year in a row that Congress could throw a wrench into D.C.’s budget.

in real terms, #7 would give states leverage to put an end to surges, #8 would give states the ability to outright stop construction of new detention facilities, #1 and #6 would slow the rate at which DHS could train and deploy officers, #2 and #10 would likely shrink the pool of recruits

I was on the Hill most of the past two days advocating against Republican efforts to cause tax chaos in DC & raise taxes on working families. I’ll be back tomorrow. Our message is filtering in to Congress. We just need a few common-sense Republicans to vote No to tax chaos in DC

If you think being armed in a state where open carry is legal gives the government the right to murder you, you don’t believe in the second amendment.

Omg it’s so good! I usually don’t love things with too much romance but it’s amazing anyway. It’s the first book I’ve read more than once and I’m finishing my third reread
